GALICIA!

This past weekend, we went to Galicia for 3 days. It's a region of Spain in the very Northwest corner.

DAY 1 (Wednesday) --- Santiago de la Castellana

This was a very antiquated town with cheap food, lots of seafood, good sangria, and beautiful churches. Not necessarily in that order. We got off the bus and went to a mercado (market) in Santiago where everything from titty-cheese to dead fish were sold at a low low price. We walked through the park and into the more touristy area of the city. The place was gorgeous...with baroque styled houses and tiny alleyways packed with people blending in to a backdrop of cute cafés. The old cathedral is what stood out the most about this town. It stands in the center of a town of red stucco tiles with its towers and beautiful architecture. We got to climb to the top of the cathedral to take pictures.

After visiting Santiago, we drove to a small countryside "camp" where we ate DUML style in a big dining hall served by the staff. The rooms had bunk beds and resembled little cabins lined up in a row. It was really pretty, set in the rural area with mountains and no city lights. You could see the stars so clearly from there. Not necessarily the way it was in Beaufort (no Milky Way), but about the same.

Day 2 (Thursday) --- The countryside...somewhere.

We rode the bus up to a high point on the mountain. It looked like how one would expect Ireland to look like.

Day 3 (Friday) --- Still in the countryside, then A Coruña.
