My cable provider just made my TiVo worthless and I hate them for it.

No but they will sell me one for $10/month.
They now require one of their DVRs for any TV service.

They made it so without THEIR box, I don't get any reception. I can get a box for free but if I want to record like I have the capability to do now with my TiVo, they charge monthly.

Comcast did that to us about...ohhhhh.... two or three months ago. Mark was piiiised...

You would think TiVo would be angry about it but it almost looks like they dont lose any customers because people can get around it if they have newer systems. So it either forces people to upgrade, or do nothing.

I'm still sad, because I prefer the way TiVo works to the cablevision DVR box.

Doesnt matter, I've decided to just go straight hulu.com

Yeah, pretty much but we don't want to have to build another computer so it will work - we have started using hulu too. ;)
