Summary: A dream that imprints itself upon their lives...
Written for the weekly challenge for
the_voicebox They never speak of the incident but it imprints itself on their lives; a lucid dream shared by two men.
It happened on a sweltering summer’s day, distorted air heavy with the first hints of rain. And maybe that was why he had looked up, eyes searching the smoky clouds that mixed with sunshine and patches of dazzling blue.
It fell in rapid burst of light, awkward movement breaking through the fabric of the atmosphere with unnatural tenacity. And trailing its fall were two columns of white smoke, shapeless tails of ash that grew unclear around the edges and for a moment, Jongwoon thought it to be a plane.
‘An angel’ whispered Jungsu and Jongwoon needed not encouragement to stand and run, feet light with excitement as they followed the fading path in the skies. And seeing it as it crashed into the ground, seeing him, they had both stopped, just short of the broken form and saw the smoke to be wings, smouldering white against the charred landscape.
Jungsu had approached him first, curiosity and wonder evident with his every step and only once did he waver, halting to stare in wonder at the wings that seemed sentient as they danced against a background of the rural scene. Jongwoon had followed his friends lead and hearing the distant voices of people, had stumbled and fallen, scathing his knee on burned ground.
‘He’s beautiful...’ called out Jungsu and Jongwoon had to agree, looking down at the man’s face. Strong features that appeared chiselled, far too vivid and far too human, long lashes closed serene against pale skin and before he could tell him otherwise, Jungsu had reached out and touched him.
That was where the memory had ended and for the longest time, Jongwoon had thought it to have been but a vibrant dream.
Jungsu chooses men for partners, men whose faces are decorated with striking features and long, airy lashes. Jongwoon sings and when he does, people listen in awe and tell him that there’s a deaf and smoky quality to his voice. They also tell him his voice touches their hearts, as though they too had lost something, are waiting for someone...
It imprints itself upon them, the quaint dream of a falling man.

I know everyone's opinion on how good looking each of the boys is varies but that's my opinion of Kangin and Kangin's face when he isn't moving 180 miles per hour, talking, shouting, laughing, etc...
And as for the sad note at the end...maybe it's a reflection of how I see the personalities of the boys or maybe it's just because I don't believe in angels...
