They’re almost out of time and Youngwoon sways impatiently, small whine breaking past his lips.
‘We’re almost there.’- Jungsu reassures him with a voice that could do with more confidence and Youngwoon feels his organs begin to grow inwards as they reach the next stage of evolution. That’s how long the journey feels to him.
The bus stops and there’s commotion; a large group of students getting on. Their contribution to the atmosphere is felt with added noise pollution and a jab in Youngwoon’s side as they pass him, so he bites down on his lip and concentrates on the sting lest his violent thoughts turn into more violent actions. The vehicle jolts into a slow start, the man behind them bumping into Jungsu and he plasters against Youngwoon and he notes that Jungsu smells nice. And yet the situation still manages to play along his nerves like a professional musician, grinding away at the strings to produce whinny notes.
‘It’s the next stop.’-coos Jungsu and Youngwoon swears to himself that when he’s rich and famous he’ll buy a car with air-conditioning and door-locks. And a house and a big dog that he’ll call Princess…
They’re late, so very late and as the bus pulls up to the side. He feels the sticky air part as the doors open and he rushes forward; gates to Heaven complimented with the voices of angels and turning he decides the voices aren’t angels at all. It’s Jungsu and as the doors close, the public transport already veering away, onward with its journey, Youngwoon decides Heaven is over-rated anyway. He has to get through his life on Earth, smack Jungsu and running after the bus, pounding the door, the mental clock that’s been ticking away in head drowns out.
