The comedy script is down to 123 pages. Thirty pages still to cut. Ouch.
Working on new pop song about stalkers called "Stranger Danger."
Saw Kill Bill part 2. It ROCKS, yes. No doubt. But.....
It's growing on me, but I'm still a little miffed about all the huge tangential stories. I'm still wanting to see more about Uma's past and how she grew to fall in love with Bill. (And how she became involved with all of these people in the first place.) I feel like the whole tragedy of Uma's story is somewhat muted by the revenge-first chronology of the first film, and still a bit lacking in the second film because it only touches on her relationship with Bill BEFORE all the shit went down. We needed more with Daryl Hanah, too, and how her relationship with Bill got fucked up because of Uma. ...I don't know. As good and as disturbing and as stylish as everything is, I feel like parts 1 and 2 are simply sequels to an ORIGINAL FILM that I haven't seen yet.
Maybe it's Quentin just masturbating. Maybe I can't allow myself to swallow a shallow film with superbadass style to burn.
Or maybe the film isn't even about character. Maybe it's just a metaphor for pure passion and perseverance. On that level it soars.
(I think if the first hour and a half had been about: 1. Uma's childhood, history and romance with Bill, 2. her training, of which they included some 3. her endless murders-for-hire for Bill and her adventures with the Squad 4. her stealing Bill from Daryl Hanah and Daryl's jealousy 5. Uma's leaving Bill ---------THEN ALL OF THIS REVENGE SHIT WOULD WORK. My whole theory on this is that you have to have LIFE and a CHARACTER established before you can truly move an audience when you DESTROY IT. ) blah blah blah.
