pride and fall

As luck would have it, my job brings me in contact with all kinds of people. The wrong kind. (I wouldn't care much for prosecuting the innocent.)

It's just that sometimes, you wonder what made these people take these crooked paths. For example, Judge O. He graduated on top of his class and topped the bar. Yet he's been called, by no less than the President herself, a hoodlum in robes in no less than a speech before the general public. He single-handedly allowed the escape of an entire shipload of dangerous drugs and holds at bay a government claim for several billions, to name a few atrocities. Last I heard he was about to be debenched and disbarred.

Then there's Mr. B, a five-time Palanca awardee who was twice banned by the KBP for life (he begged to be reinstated then reneged on his promises to behave) for inflammatory and libelous statements. He still refuses to acknowledge the power of the KBP over him, a broadcaster, despite the Supreme Court ruling stating that he is under their jurisdiction.

Makes me seriously consider my super's remark that very intelligent people sometimes cross over to insanity because of their extremely high IQ. Guess I should start looking out for my friends a lot more. >_
