Raya 2007: Part 2

Oct 26, 2007 14:32

All of our Raya pictures from 3 sources (my handphone camera - yes, very handy and nice!; Kak Osh's Sony digital camera; and Aziz's handphone camera) are on my flickr, and some are on my fotki and friendster, so help yourself. Lazy la pulak wanna post here.

The second day of raya is quite gloomy in the sense of the weather and the also the funeral of Nek Usu Ayang. Dubbed as 'Nenek Glamour' by some, I was not entirely sad for her journey to the afterlife because I believe that she's an example of someone who lived life to the fullest in her own way. She may not be as rich, she was not really successful either, I mean, she's not a corporate moghul or a princess or anything but yeah, she lived her life to the fullest.
I'm just sad that she cant enjoy the serunding that I finally bought her. Mom was sobbing and muttering, "The serunding are still in the fridge... huhuhuh"

As if she's gonna haunt me for not bringing the serunding earlier. Anyway, that's my hutang to her when she was alive, and I hope I paid her well with my Yasin recitals instead. Al fatihah.

The whole morning was spent at Mak Hi's house where they did the last respects, and then her remains was buried at Semariang that afternoon. It was raining towards the end, and then we got the opportunity to visit my grandma and great grandma's grave as well. And took nice pictures there too.

We went back to Matang for a while to shower - there's a superstition that if you just came back from the graveyards you need to clean up because got semangat la whatever la, so if you're not clean, you cant carry babies or something like that. So I wanna carry Mumu...

And then back to Batu 4 - and I got visitors! Actual visitors! hahahaha despite us not having open house at our own place, tarlia and chipperazzi came to visit. Psstt.. Scoops. Muahahhaa
Dee wanted to come but I was out on an errand when she called - yeah, went to Everise to get more supplies of stuff, and since she cancelled then, we went for a detour to another relative's house because Ambo got to pick up his cheese from a French relative of ours - yeap, one of my mom's cousins married a Frenchmen, and he brought Provence goat's cheese especially for Ambo.. heh

What a cheesy ending for the day :)

Day 3
The weirdest day of Raya, today marks the craziness of the Junaidi clan.

Equipped with the hand-written menu pasted in front of the house, we're supposed to be catering for the Nepri and Musa (great grandpas from my grandpa and grandma's side) family gathering, (almost) kopitiam style.

It was a tiring morning, but a fun one indeed. Again, I hid in the kitchen, doing the Axion stint, and the guy with the ponytail irritated the 'waitresses' :P muahahaha

The morning spent manning the kopitiam, and in the evening, Pak Tahir, Dzul's father in law invited the whole family to their house for Raya dinner. And that was really a mistake on their part, just because we're freakier than the Addam's family and we all ended up cracking jokes all night, whacking the karaoke system at their house and singing and dancing the night away :D

Family muka tak malu one - but I bet everyone had so much fun, even my grandpa.

Since we're dressed to kill already (yeah right) so we detoured to another relative's house in the middle of the night, well, after all, in the spirit of raya visiting. Sempat la watch Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam 2 at her house. heh.

So that's raya for me then.
