Vector Prime reading notes: fin

I just finished reading Vector Prime. They really know how to hit you over the head with the "everybody is vulnerable now" thing, don't they? I'm a little annoyed Danni ended up being force-sensitive, but I thought that may have been the way things were going. It's probably going to be a Jedi-heavy war against the Vong.

I like where things are headed. I really want to see how the New Republic handles this alien threat. I want to know what kinds of new tech the Vong have to offer.

Luke: dying wife, Han in dispair, dead friend. Man, just stack it on. *bows down to the king of Pain*

Leia: kids constantly in danger of dying, husband at the edge of sanity. I like how she's back in the diplomatic fight, but I don't know how interesting it'll end up being. I'd rather her be in the real fight. I hate politics.

Han: holy shit, dude. Especially rereading the A.C. Crispin trilogy with Dewlanna, this is just brutal. You've managed to create megatons of angst out of Chewbacca's death. This is a sign of a broken man, and I don't know if I like Han this down.

Twins: pawn pieces for improbable scheme and stuff. I get the earlier connection with the force-link now. Both twins are pretty awesome.
Anakin: never thought was dead for a second, is kind of awesome.

In fact, all of the Jedi are unreasonably awesome, and I'm worried about this getting out of hand. A few more Jedi besides Miko are going to have to die before I see this as a credible threat, and I don't mean Danni (why do I think Kyp might take her on as an apprentice?).

Overall: This sets up for a lot of possibilities. Action is in position to accelerate. Many promises of new technology and how the New Republic will handle that. This could potentially be awesome.

The next two books are by Stackpole. I am hoping for some awesome military action. Title is omnious though: Dark Tide I: Onslaught.
