Judge not lest ye be judged... gqsmooth January 3 2005, 10:57:40 UTC
Quite an interesting post here. I thought id get a few comments in.

1: Regarding: "If you leave an away message with a joke in it for a certain friend"
The away message you speak of was rather crude. Not becoming of someone who says they are a Christian

2: Also Regarding: "If a randomly Generated new years resolution says you are going to become a slut in 2005"

Ephesians 5:3-5
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person-such a man is an idolater-has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Romans 12:1-2

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

In reagrds to:"You are a lukewarm Christian and you are going to Hell. Just thought you would like to know." The verse is Revelation 3:14-16 "To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. It says nothing about going to Hell. In Fact it encourages and says that if we overcome, Jesus will give us the right to sit with Him on His throne! Revelation 3:17-22 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

In Regards To: Matthew 7:10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

Also in Regards to:"If you know someone who likes to jump to conclusions and judge you without knowing you."

1 Corinthians 5: 11-13
11But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.
Philippians 1:27
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel

So many people take this verse out of context and try to use it to say we cant judge others. We cannot judge unbelievers, because they cannot hold up to God's standard. They are slaves to sin!
God will judge them. Untill Christ Jesus frees them from the domain of darkness and transfers them to the kingdom of light, then there is nothing they can do but disobey the law. Their condemnation is already upon them. But with a believer Paul says we ARE TO JUDGE THOSE INSIDE THE CHURCH! We are called to hold each other accountable to God's holy standard. Granted none of this is to be done in anger, and in your specific situation i dont believe it was done in anger. But we are to exhort each other in love. A Father who loves his children will discipline them, and the same is true of us in the church who love our Christian brothers and sisters. Robin, if you feel you have been judged, then maybe you should take a moment and reflect on whether or not it was your own guilty conscience that made you feel attacked, and if that is the case then maybe you should consider why you feel that way. You might find what others were telling you all along is true. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you-unless, of course, you fail the test?

If your conscience is clear before God then all I can say is that the truth of the matter will be evidenced in your fruit and deeds. Matthew 7:16-17 "By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit." James 2:14-17 "What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. "If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

Again I say all this in love, and please do not misunderstand. I do not claim to know all such things so quickly. James 3:1-2 Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. And so I do not claim to be a teacher who knows much. But I do know this, that I have been told in God's word to love my brothers and sisters, and if they fall into sin, to point it out to them in love, that they might repent and receive the mercy of God. 1 John 8-10 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives."

I close this reply with the words of Peter and John, out of the book of Acts...

Acts 4:15-20

So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everybody living in Jerusalem knows they have done an outstanding miracle, and we cannot deny it. But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn these men to speak no longer to anyone in this name.”

Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God's sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

GQS--Im just a random reader but, you, take religon way to seriously and obviously try to live up to a book, not meant to be lived by, but meant to guide you.
I know plenty of catholics and christians, and ive never seen someone so pathetic as to respond with quotes. Do you not have your OWN voice? Are you so obsessed with religon that you cannot even speak your own opinion and must use bible quotes as self expression?

...Most importantly, you seem to have spent a lot of time with this...And, I am positive you have commited sins, that you have done something wrong that goes aganist the words you preach... HA, she took a quiz that had sexual references...I take what you left as a quote to mean that YOU have never had done sexual acts, had sexual fantasies or *gasp* made a sexual reference.
You have no right to tell people they arent religious enough, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO TAKE THE BIBLE WORD FOR WORD.
and everyone who believes in god, each have their own ways of showing it.....

Personally, id rather be a lukewarm christian than a fanatic that is to busy trying to live out perfection that will never be reached, and in the meantime is wasting their lives and are just a sheep among the herd of mindless religon nuts.

First of all, The word of God is what I and all Christians live by. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is Godbreathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Notice the word ALL. I judge everything in life by the word of God and not MY own opinion for He is FAR more holy, and perfect in knowledge than I will ever be. Secondly did you miss the part where I quoted 1 John 1:8-10 "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives." I never claimed to be without sin, rather the opposite, but I am in Christ and I am covered by His blood, my sins are forgiven, I am a child of God! I do not claim to be able to live up to the law, because I know I can't. Romans 3:23 "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," And since I am in Christ Romans 3:24 "and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." I am a new creation in Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And because I am a new creation I do my best to live by the word of God. I do not expect someone like you to be able to live up to this standard because you are not a Christian. On the other hand I do expect others who claim to be followers of my Lord and Savior to do their best to obey the commands He has given us. No one is perfect, and no one can live up to the law, but that's why Christ died for us. I will end this with one last thing. The gospel is for everyone to hear. The one thing Paul never stopped preaching was the gospel of Jesus Christ, to all everywhere. So here it is. He who has ears let Him hear....

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 3:3 I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.

John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your ehart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart you believe and are JUSTIFIED, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says "anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with him and he with me."

If you hear His voice today, listen. Believe in Him and receive forgiveness of sin. Be free from th yoke of the law that you can never live up to! It doesnt at all mean that you can throw the law away, but if the burden is removed, and you fail to live according to the law of God, we have forgiveness, and can pick up and try again.

I am glad, and will sing praise before my God, that he chose to rescue me, a SHEEP gone astray. If you choose to go the other way, and not heed the word He has given us that is your choice. We will all sit before the judgement seat of God, and give an account of everything in our lives. Will you have the blood of Jesus Christ covering you, or will you be condemned before a holy God?
