Work

So "9 hours" is definitely 10 hours of work starting at 6:45 (I have to get up at 5:30) which means plus travel time basically 12 hours of my day. Plus 8 hours sleep, and that leaves me 4 hours of free time, except then there is also dinner and a shower (I'm switching back to showering everyday since this work is positively filthy) so thats even less. Man having a regular job bites.

That said its not particularly difficult. Its not like its back breaking labor, though because of the weather its still extremely warm and sweaty. The downside is that the work is pretty boring. A lot of time is spent cleaning roofs (its a roof, why? To impress low flying airplanes?) rather than actually building/repairing/etc. them. The boss is really cool though, he's funny and a generally amiable person. Also I got to be a lecherous construction worker which was a plus since otherwise the large amounts of standing around would have been unbearably dull. The tragic thing about Europe though is that many more people smoke. So I'd be like "Oh she's cute, no wait, groooosss."

Speaking of smoking the guy I work with, Steffano (sp? its Italian) is this Italian man, but he's one of those guys who you're not sure how old he is. He might be really fit for like 50 or he might be a shattered 30 year old. I'd describe him as "weathered." He chain smokes hand rolled cigarettes, but in a way most people smoke. He's like a dude from a western, the cigarette just sort of hangs in his mouth and smolders away. He doesn't seem to "smoke" it per say, thats far too active a verb. Its more like the he just takes what happens to drift back. Maybe he just likes second hand smoke?

I should be finding out how much I'm getting paid tomorrow which is nice as thats the primary reason I'm doing this job.
