the beauty in simplicity

poor kids i was sitting for have the hand foot and mouth disease. both of them.

i left their house in the pouring rain...
ran to my car and dropped my keys in a puddle
making me all the more wet.

and for the first time in god only knows how long,
i just stood there and laughed.
laughed at myself
laughed at my dripping wet keys
and it felt so good.
i got home and took my time walking from the parking lot.
i wore my crocs and they were full of rain by the time i got in the building.
literally as i walked, water was overflowing out of my shoes
and i just laughed.
dumped the rain out infront of my doorstep and dried off.
i even walked through the puddles in the parking lot.
not ran,
walked.
(i may have hopped a little just for fun)

i wasn't even scared of the storm.

it looked so beautiful on the dark pavement..
the rain just catching reflections of light
seeing specks plunge themselves into the ground
and being replaced by tens more.

so here i am now.

drinking a glass of wine infront of my three panel window
watching the lightning touch the tops of houses nearby.

it's really quite beautiful.

i wonder why i never really noticed.
and why it just felt so good today.

it's just been so long since i felt such a pure and honest laugh.
un provoked
happiness.

(what a concept.)

laughter, xoxo, happiness, thunderstorm
