After spending some time browsing LugNet (A lego site I use on occasion), I've realized something.

Lego seems to have developed an understanding that the 'new style' of sets we saw from '99 to '04 were ... not good, and that sometimes, the old ways are best. The sets I'm seeing from '05 and '06, while still new and modern, are slowly getting back to the old ways of building - more parts, more intelligent design, and overall, plans that, when you finish constructing them, leave you going "Mmm. That took some doing" instead of the more-often-felt "Umm ... that was ... easy" you've gotten in the 'newer, friendlier (read as : dumber)' era.

Not to mention Lego forgot the obvious - more parts = more customization, more rebuild value. Fewer, more specific parts = less rebuild value. ^_^

It's nice to know that Lego's got a clue again, and I'm simply thrilled with the "Lego Factory" software that was pointed out to me, as it means that, with the aid of LugNet and a few other sites, I can, if I wish, use the Factory and some careful orders from lego's accessories system to rebuild the old sets I lost with the storage unit. With any luck, Lego Factory will still be going when I go to attempt this ... and hopefully, it'll include some of the vital parts I need to actually BUILD some of these.
