and it seems that life has gotten in the way again. Oh well, that's how it goes I guess. We have started working on the basement. Slowly but surely. My handyman hubby, Jordyn and myself picked out the wood, stained it, cut it, and nailed it in place in the windows. They look gorgeous!! Nothing real spectacular to most people, but the is the first thing we have really improved on in the house. Outside of all the painting before we moved in. It gives the windows a nice finished look. Not to mention now we can put plastic on them to keep out some more of the cold. I feel bad for Jordyn playing down here, it gets so cold. Yeah, we have a heater down here, but it just isn't the same.
Jordyn is loving Kindergarten. She is excelling at a huge rate, and making more friends everyday it seems. I'm so glad that she is such a like-able kiddo. She has run into a problem with one of the girls in her class, unfortunately. We are now having conversations about bullies. My sweet girl is getting picked on with words. Everyday since she went back after Christmas break she has had a tummy ache and doesn't want to go to school. The teacher, principal, and office staff know about it, and all seem to keep a little extra eye on her. Which is a bit of a relief. Words really hurt, and I hate to see her hurting. Can I just put her in a bubble and protect her forever? I know I can't, but a mommy can wish can't she?
We had all of the family Christmas parties at our home this year. It was GREAT to say the least. I love having parties and entertaining in my home, and I'm thankful to finally have the room to do it. The Gerwig Christmas was very laid back, buffet style. Whereas my family is a little more formal. My mom officially handed down the good china and silver to me. :) For some reason that made this house feel a little more like home.
Jordyn has joined the Daisy troop at school. It is the Kindergarten version of Brownies/Girl Scouts. She seems to enjoy it. She likes doing all of the extra things. In a couple weeks we will be going to a Ferris State girls basketball game where she will be dancing with the dance squad at halftime. That should be cute to see. In February they are having a princess party where everyone that comes must dress up as a princess, queen or king...I'm thinking family outing. :)
One more thing, then I think I have caught everyone up...My best friend (next to Rob) is getting married in Dec. and has asked me to be her Matron of Honor and Jordyn to be a Junior Maid of Honor. I am truly blessed with a beautiful family, and wonderful friends.
I pray that 2008 brings beauty and promise to the lives of each and every one of you.
