ok, so here goes:
1. presidential hopefuls must first submit to an intelligence test. actually, MULTIPLE intelligence tests.
2. they are eliminated to a handful or two, say.... 12? say, 4 democrat, 4 republican, and 4 independent.
3. they are then put in a house, together. the white house, better yet. and every week, a show airs on tv, a REALITY TV SHOW. (how's that for american society?) and each week, they do a TV debate. and every week, one candidate is voted off.
4. in the first phase, the republicans debate amongst themselves, the democrats - the same, and the independents - the same. therefore, it is eliminated to 1 of each party.
5. finally, there is a three hour special. where an hour is devoted to each debate, dem vs. ind, rep vs. ind, dem vs. rep.
6. the country votes, and, ta da! we have our president.
i figure this will work because more people watch tv than vote in politics. more people watch reality tv shows than anything else. it would be a good way for the public to really know the candidates' plans and viewpoints. also, the show will be aired at public places so those without tvs can go and watch. and vote. voting will be online (except for the final round, where people would go to voting booths and vote on PAPER, we need PAPER trails.) and complete information is entered so as to guard against "powervoting" where the same person votes multiple times.
what do you think?
