So I've been uploading pictures from Japan and will take it one day at a time, yah? I think I've done some commentary on our first few days before I became tired of writing as we were traveling in high humidity (and really, for a girl who's been living in the dry, dry heat of California, humidity ain't your friend) and we were super spazzy for a lot of the nights.
So without further ado (and I should really try to sleep early and acclimate better), here are pictures of the first day! (sorry, I was too tired lazy to resize the pictures!)
So we didn't really do much other than LAND in Tokyo. Then do all the little things (immigration, customs, money exchange, train to Ueno, lug our luggage to our Capsule Inn in Akihabara) before meeting up with Teej and getting my mobile activated and eating dinner! I had soba! MMMMM. We also wandered around Yodabashi for a while before going to Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors for a 3 scoop for the price of 2 deal that Teej insisted we get. IT WAS DELICIOUS! And perfect for the humidity!
Our neat pods. XD I was really doubtful about it but it turned out to be really nifty at the end. And mousaPi is promising that when
longleggedgit gets into JET, she'll be dragged here along with
marksykins. WATCH OUT FOR THE BEADED PILLOWS. :| They do something weird to your head, y0.
We woke up bright and early to head out to try and capture a bit of the hustle and bustle of Tsukiji Fish Market. It is amazingly cool and there is fish everywhere! Sorry for the blurred quality but I was taking them so fast and avoiding the tiny carts that would zoom between the aisles!
We had to walk through this with vans and small carts zooming by! No sidewalks here!
A tiny shrine close to the Fish Market!
Mmmm. We stopped for breakfast! While we were waiting for our food, I saw a signed board by Wentz Eiji of WaT! :D I had a little thrill of happiness of eating in the same places as people I've watched had done and experiencing the same culinary taste. It was exciting! And delicious!
So after checking out of Akiba's Capsule Inn, we lugged our stuff to Yokohama. We were a bit early and so we rested in the lobby of our hotel after getting lost for a bit. Whoops, forgot to take a picture of our hotel, the Shin Yokohama Prince Hotel, which is beautiful and amazing! Thanks to
snowqueenofhoth for mentioning that
sourangel stays there all the time whenever she's in town for concerts. We liked it a lot and omg, a deep bathtub! I soaked for a while before we headed out to the w-inds. concert that night.
But I digress! For lunch, we met up with one of my friends (and one of his!) to eat at the
Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum. This places is amazingly cool. And the ramen? DELICIOUS. We chose to eat at Fukuchan, which had garlic chips with their ramen. *______*
My bowl of Ramen! So yummy!
Casey's bowl. :D
Afterwards, we went to a sweets shop and bought candy. MousaPi and I also bought Ice Pops to eat while looking around. It was a cool way to end the meal. <3
More on Pacifico Yokohama later. Sleepy time now. <3
