(no subject)
So I'm having dinner with my dad (yummy homemade pho) and I am watching Yuukan Club Ep. 7 for kicks. So he's eating alongside me and listening for a bit and my mom comes down.
Then, we had the ensuing conversation.
mom: "Honey, what are you watching?"
me: "Yuukan Club!"
mom: "OH! Isn't that currently airing or something? How many episodes is it now? 4 or 5?"
me: "Seven! This is episode seven playing right now. Came out on Tuesday."
mom: "ohhh. I watched the first episode and it looked boring. Plus, I was watching the Lobbyist and that's really absorbing!"
Mom watches it with me for a few minutes. (btw, shabzilla, she highly recommends Golden Bride for you to watch. She's been interested in the cultural differences shown between the Vietnamese and Koreans. That and The Lobbyist.)
me : *points at the screen* "it has Jin! The one you pointed out is the best singer out of KAT-TUN! You know, the one where you showed me his songs from the Real Face Concert!"
mom: "OH! I know! I remember him! He's in goku...gosu...uhh..."
me: "Gokusen 2!"
mom: "Yeah! That one! It's been a long time since I watched anything Japanese!"
me: "Too many Korean dramas, mom." :|
mom: "But he looks good in this."
~*~ Note: My mom pointed out a youtube video of Jin doing an ero dance and then Care at the Real Face concert around June or so last year. I was on the phone with shinigamitabris and she was laughing her ass off in my ear as my mom showed me this. And she laughed even harder when my mom stated that he's one of her favorite young Japanese singers. ~*~
mom turns to dad and points at him: "Otou-san! He's your Otou-san!"
me: "Yup. Otou-san!"
mom: "I know more korean than japanese though."
me: "Dad is Appa."
mom: "Yup. He's not Umma. That's for sure." *laughs*
dad: I'm not Otou-san. I'm "Otouto!"
me: :O "Otouto janai!"
mom: *LAUGHS EVEN MORE*
And all this while speaking Vietnamese and English.
My parents don't really joke around too much with us kids, it's always nice and rare. I see where I get my sense of humor from *coughsMomcoughs* and my smartmouth *coughsDADcoughs*.
Otou-san = Father in Japanese
Appa = Father in Korean
Umma = Mother in Korean
Otouto = Younger Brother in Japanese
Otouto janai = Not the younger brother
