So, I went to work and did my usual bank run and happened to stop at SCFCU (my bank) and see what the rates were on vehicles. I'm very glad I did that b/c they have a special offer right now which is 5.80% on used vehicles. You have to have at least 12 months of payment history which I will have in June. Downside is that this offer ends June 30th and the 12 payments must be posted to my CREDIT in order for me to qualify. I did call VW and made up a B.S. story (encouraged by my bank to do so haha) and said I was buying a new house and had to show at least 12 months blah blah. So they let me make my June payment now and will manually submit it to the 3 bureaus and it should hit before June 30th!!! So, I will be saving money on my car, finally! Anyways, while I was talking to the loan officer, he of course mentioned that I should look into money market accounts, CD's and IRA's. I get this spiel anytime I go to the bank because of my balances, even If I am only depositing a check. For some reason this conversation got through to me. He was right, my money is just sitting there doing nothing. So........instead of putting it into another account with limited access I decided to do something else. Something very brave. I have saved 18k in the past 2 years and have NOT touched it for anything. I worry constantly about money and am OCD when it comes to saving it. Today, less than 30 mins of getting back from the bank, I paid off 10,200 of debt! I guess I had become complacent and had decided just to pay installments on it since I had been in school and I still have clinicals to worry about. I didn't realize that, yes I was saving, but my money was doing nothing other than comforting me everytime I looked at my accounts...haha I am such a dork. So yes, other than my vehicle, house and student loan.........I am DEBT FREE!! I think Nick is jealous ;) Oh well, I have to pay off his debt when I get my RN so he know's it is fair. Alright, I'm done talking about money for the day.......just had to share!
