massive update from me!
so as i sit here in philly 3000 miles from home and everyone i know, i will give you an update.. because i should be studying.. yes studying.. i apparently have to study everyday.. which i barely do.. and i'm still lost everyday in class.. damn overachieving med students.. so anyway..
i arrived and officially moved to philly last, last sunday aug. 7 the day after G's debut because i'm crazy like that.. then i started school last last monday.. and it was just orientation which wasn't a big deal.. so during orientation they planned these events every night so everyone could mingle and get to know each other.. now i didn't really want to go to any of them.. because i'm not a good mingler.. but i lucked out because the first person i met at school happened to live in my apt building, and he's a major mingler and he really wanted to carpool to everything.. so when he asked if i wanted to carpool i basically said that he could drive.. ha ha.. driving in this city is something else. but i'll talk about that later..
so on monday they had this cosmic bowling type place.. i think it was even called lucky strikes just like in la.. so i mingled and drank and bowled.. a good time was had by all.. even though i totally suck at bowling.. then on tues they were showing this movie that we had to discuss the next day called the Doctor.. go figure.. they couldn't even pick an entertaining movie.. anyway i was all set to go.. but the cable guys were here.. they shut off my cable by mistake.. so they were there to fix it.. i'm not paying freakin $90 for no cable.. so i just stayed in that night.
then on wed they had a pool party.. and i didnt want to go to this either because who really wants to mingle and get naked in front of people you barely know.. but as i was sitting in my apt all alone, because i live alone for once.. i got bored really fast.. especially since i didnt have any studying to do yet.. so i ended up going to that and it was really funny because i was wearing shorts and a wifebeater with my bathing suit under and so were a couple of other girls i met.. and there were all these alumni there mingling and talking and they were dressed up and wearing suits and stuff.. because hello old people wear suits.. and we were like.. hello isn't this a pool party.. ha ha.. anyway barely anyone swam.. only a group of guys.. so i didnt have to swim.. as i told V, if you go in there they're just gonna oogle you.. ha ha.. anyway the rest of the night was spent trying to make conversation with random people and drinking games.. these med students sure do drink a lot..
i'm kind of getting tired of typing.. but i guess i'll go on.. since studying can be put off for a few more min.. on thurs was a pub crawl.. we just went to some bars and a club after.. this was a fun time.. i had a couple drinks because it was open bar for one hour.. so after 10 i didnt drink.. because im not about to pay $9 for a drink.. then there was dancing and stuff.. which was good because u dont have to make random conversation anymore.. you just have to make random movements.. and this was especially good because no one was feeling you up since everyone was from school.. no random sleezy guys trying to grope you..
so on friday there was a 'party' for us.. which was bascially another club.. it was supposedly in the area where the real world people hung out when they were here.. so more drinks and dancing.. except i had too many drinks this time.. and i got propositioned.. go me.. i still got it. ha ha. our bar/club was pretty boring and lame so everyone ended up going to another club that Drexel was having their party at.. it was ok in there except there were random sleezy guys there.. hence how i got propositioned..
this week real school started and i had to do a massive amount of reading on the weekend which i kinda just read through without absorbing and apparently everyone else remembered things from the reading but i didnt.. being in class sure makes me feel dumb.. but i guess i could study instead of wasting all my time.. anyway.. on monday was the first day with the cadavers.. i thought i'd be ok with it.. but the smell just grossed me out.. so i spent most of the time trying not to get grossed out and trying to figure out what was going on..
today was day 2.. and i'm used to it already.. it's not as bad.. except i'm still the smallest one there.. and a few other asian girls.. and i have to use a step stool.. oh well.. anyway.. studying sucks ass.. i feel so behind everyday.. and i can never catch up.. ahh.. but i seem to have a lot of free time which i have spent going to the groceries, doing laundry, and cleaning.. i'm still discovering the city because there's lots of places that i shouldn't go including the area around my school.. oh well i'll live.. i'm street smart now.. cuz i live in the hood.. ha ha..
