It's November 3rd, so guess what that means! It's
zukkii's birthday! *dances* So happy happy birthday!! I wish you tons of fun memories and lots of merriment! Oh and yummie cake!
And I didn't say that just so I could use the emoji. I hope you have many a great Happiness and Beautiful Days ahead of you! Mwahahaha. I'll stop there. I'm definitely NOT as good as you are with that stuff. (I swore to myself that I wouldn't do that, but then "Happiness" played, and I couldn't help myself.
As a birthday present to you,
zukkii, I bring you a wee bit of picspam... Arashi tenth anniversary style! Because all of us fangirls know, it's also a special day for the boys! (I randomly watched their first appearance on Love Love Aishiteru this morning, and I can't believe how fitting it was for today. They're so adorable. I want those shirts and dolls, let me tell you!) Anyways, onto the fun stuff!
We shall start with our fair Riida, who started out as merely the Dance Leader and ended up... well, being just plain awesome. (But then again, aren't they all awesome?) It was definitely a shock to me when I learned that he could have been a member of V6 instead. I can't even imagine something like that. What would have become of Arashi then? But why focus on the ifs when there are more important things to talk about!
What I find very commendable in Oh-chan is how he kept with the job. For a time, he was thinking about quitting the jimusho. But here he still is today, a member of one of the top-selling artists in Japan. He still participates in stage plays. He rose to drama fame in Maou and Uta no Onii-san. He's had his own solo concert and solo single. And he's currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of Arashi's single debut.
Second in line, and one of the first to know about their debut, is Sho-chan. So tiny and chibi he was at the time. It's interesting to see how he seemed to be the little punk of the group (his Sakurap and all), but in the end, he's the total failboat. We love him for that, of course. I actually am envious of the fact that he knows that he's not the best at games, flips, and so on, but he still tries! And he hates heights, but he still will skydive to see if a t-shirt will dry and he'll be lifted high up in Kokuritsu for a concert... all while fearing for his life.
He's also our Keio boy, of course, and actually understands economics. Some of that, I'll never understand. I took economics in high school, but that's a whole different ballpark than where he's at. And with that great brain of his, he's become a Monday night regular on News Zero. (Who would have ever imagined that, right?) He even went to the Olympics as a newscaster. He returned to the drama scene with The Quiz Show Golden. And he's currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of Arashi's single debut.
Days upon days could be spent talking about Aiba-chan. (I'm a little biased, you see.) He was apparently the shy one in his junior days. Seems hard to believe, but somehow, I can understand it. Or I just tell myself that I do. I'm glad that he was able to break out of his shell and become the cute baka experimenter that we know and love today. Yes, he makes silly mistakes, he doesn't have the best handle on English, and he comes up with the craziest ideas, but don't we all? Okay, maybe not all of us, but... he's Aiba-chan, so we forgive him. (And we love all those things about him anyway.)
If he had never become a member of Arashi, I wonder if he'd take over the family restaurant. Don't know what I think about that. I mean, look at all the... interesting foods he's come up with on Shukudai-kun. (And his love of mabu tofu, man...) Think of all the new dishes he'd come up with. Hahaha. But again, no need for ifs, right? Not only does he experiment with food, but he's the mastermind behind the ever-lovable A no Arashi. He plays with animals on Tensai Shimura Doubutsuen (and hugs giant pandas--soooo jealous). He's starring in his very first lead drama role in My Girl. And he's currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of Arashi's single debut.
Our DS-playing, card-carrying, money-pinching Nino is fourth in line. I wonder why I seem to leave out honorifics the most out of Arashi when I talk about him. Does anyone else find it interesting that he seems to play more video games now in his mid-twenties than he did as a teen? Some men grow up... others grow down, I guess. No, I think he'll just always be like that, I mean, he is the guy behind Ni no Arashi. But even so, he is the first Johnny's to be in a Hollywood film, and it was directed by the great Clint Eastwood no less! The way that Nino can switch gears so easily--playing his DS one minute then acting a serious role the next--it's incredible.
Picking up the guitar about a year before their debut, Nino learned to play just by watching others. That's... to me... talent. And who doesn't love watching him play the piano? Impressive too is the fact that he writes music. "Niji" is just plain beautiful, and he was behind "Fight Song," "Gimmick Game," and "5x10." This man knows how to write and compose, that's for sure. He has a plethora of dramas on his resume. He won an individual award at the 46th Galaxy Awards. He is preparing for a role in the movie, Gantz. And he's currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of Arashi's single debut.
Last, but not least, is our self-proclaimed Comedy Leader. *cough cough* I laugh, truly, I laugh. Man, oh man, how this boy has changed his image. I feel like it started with Sawada and continued with Doumyouji. But our Jun-kun seems to get influenced by his roles, and both Bambi and Vito lightened him up a bit. And who can't forget Momo? I want a Momo! All I know is that I wouldn't want to be the one waking him up in the morning. Haha. He may have been the instigator of the wake-up call in Hawaii, but I have a feeling he wouldn't be the one with that kind of idea nowadays.
Our DoS boy can sure cook though. Thank you, Bambino, for showing MatsuJun the greatness that is Italian food and the joy that comes from cooking it. Good try with the Italian-inspired Oden, but I guess the traditional kind is best. Jun-kun also seems to be the most feared of the group--from juniors and younger entertainers. Somehow, I can see that. Haha. But we all know that he really is a loving and caring guy. He was awarded GQ Man of the Year for 2008. He is working on the history-making three-part drama, Wagaya no Rekishi. And he's currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of Arashi's single debut.
Arashi... Arashi... for dream! At their debut, I doubt they could have imagined that ten years later, they would be where they are now. Their singles, albums, and concert dvds, they're all top sellers and in high demand. They have fans all around the world. They really have created a storm that spans across countries and continents alike.
I would love to list all of Arashi's accomplishments, movies, shows, and so on. But to do that would make this entry much longer than it already is. We all know what they've done, though, and we love them for it. Congrats to them for moving to a slot during golden time. Congrats to them for topping even the world-wide album charts. Congrats to them on their tenth anniversary!
A then picture and a now picture... thought that would be fitting for this day. It's amazing to see how much they've changed both outwardly and inwardly. (And who doesn't love suits? Teehee. And having fun in suits is even better.)
I hadn't planned on making such a big deal out of their anniversary, but it's
zukkii's birthday, and I wanted to do something special. Hope you enjoyed it, hun! Maybe next time they'll actually be more pics and less talk, kay? Do have a wonderful birthday!!
