The servants are up early to start the day. Eileen eventually gives Alice a new set of clothes - unfortunately, they're too tight, but it seems that's all they have available on short notice.

"Well, if you want to work of what you owe the family, you might get to work helping Sara," Mrs. Medlock tells Alice.

Sara the scullery maid is quite grateful for the help. Her job consists of lighting fires, cleaning them, sweeping floors, washing dishes - helping her out will take up most of the morning.

Oliver Wycliffe is, as he said, available for personal prayers at six-thirty in the morning.
