So, unfortunately my Christmas did not go as *amazing* as I was hoping but things turned out well in the end. More than ever this year I am really just thankful to be back with my grandparents and resting for a little while. Staying at my grandma's small country home is now like staying in a hotel compared to my dorm room. Being a very materialistic person this was the first Christmas where I was more looking forward to seeing my family and giving gifts rather than receiving them. This also probably has to do with my age, being twenty and having everything I could really need at the moment. This was also the first Christmas where I went shopping for gifts by myself in a new city and had a lot of fun doing so. Even though my first semester as a transfer was difficult, it was also very eye-opening and had some great moments. If I could, I would definitely do it all over again.
When we were younger my sisters and I would go over my Aunts for Christmas and have a small family gathering with relatives. As we got older our family grew further apart so now we have a simple but decent Christmas day at my mom's place. We also used to always see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in the city which is somewhat of a tradition for many families. Next year my grandparents want to spend the holiday away in the bahamas or Christmas in the city. Both ideas sound great to me, it would definitely be a great break away from the winter weather for a little while. It still has not really set in that I'm going to London either, this will be my first time out of the country and finally a chance to get my new passport dirty.
Currently there is a big storm system headed this way, so I will have plenty of snowed-in time tomorrow to give a more detailed description of the things I received this Christmas (which was also much more than I expected) :)
Also, if anyone would like to add me as a friend on Facebook just send me a PM and I will add you right away.
