This Old Workshop: Day 17

I'm still at it, trying to finish the roof.

One of the gable pieces.

The first gable in place - a perfect fit after a little fine-tuning with a rasp and block plane.

Gable #2 was less cooperative. It was cut too large, and I couldn't just trim it into shape with the rasp and plane. So I tried to trim it with the circular saw. That didn't go too bad, until the very end of the trim I made on the bottom. The saw wobbled and took a big bite out of the bottom of the plywood, which left a huge gap between the gable and the wall top. I used a piece of scrap as a quick patch here. It's fugly. I guess I could try to use the jigsaw to square up the gap and then cut a neater patch to go in the cut-out. But that'll have to wait.

There's a chance of rain this weekend, and I need to get as much of the roofing done as possible. I won't be able to do the shingles, so I'll still have to rig the tarp over it - there's some tiny gaps along the ridge that I'm gonna fill with caulk and cover with double felt.
