Earlier tonight we watched Deal or No deal, that hot hot new gameshow. It was certainly more interesting than I thought it might be, though perhaps not all it has been touted as. There was much discussion between the wife and myself as to whether there is a specific formula used to determine the amount offered to the player to walk away. We both assume there is; this was supported by Howie Mandell showing us what would have been a subsequent offer while hypothetically spinning out the game after a guy took $464,000 to quit playing. As with any good gambling game, it's all about how long you want to ride that old odds tiger. I can certainly see why people find it so interesting. It's very easy to put yourself in that position and start weighing the odds against you.
Anyway, the wife suggested I ought to go on a gameshow - one requiring more skill, of course. I understand it's really kind of difficult to get on Jeopardy though. But hell, if Cliff Claven could do it....
