Gaaah, I'm so confused. I'm thinking of changing my major. To what, I'm not entirely certain -- maybe something like business or management (can you major in management? o.O;) or something...business-y and general. The way I see it, it would be really hard to find a good, stable company that pays well for translators, and then when I find it, I'll have to compete with dozens of other people to get a shot at possibly getting the job.

Wings of Azure (10:51:38 PM): That's kind of why I'm hesitant to even major or minor in a language. I figure that I can learn the language on the side and then just say that I'm fluent (or at least very proficient) in it -- I don't think that a degree would be necessary, unless the position relied heavily on language.
Shining Ardvark (10:51:57 PM): Mmm
Shining Ardvark (10:52:01 PM): yeah I derno.
Shining Ardvark (10:52:07 PM): I wanna minor in Spanish if I can I think :D;;
Shining Ardvark (10:52:23 PM): I'd double major but that'd make it so that I'd have to miss out on so many cool IAF classes
Wings of Azure (10:56:18 PM): x.x I'm so confused. I mean, being completely honest with myself, when I think of being a translator/interpreter, it's a nice thought but there's not a passion inside, you know? Like...I don't know.
Shining Ardvark (10:56:33 PM): I know exactly what you mean
Shining Ardvark (10:56:37 PM): I mean...
Shining Ardvark (10:56:42 PM): there is a passion inside
Shining Ardvark (10:56:47 PM): but I think if it were my job that'd go away..
Yeah. The thought is nice, but I think that my time in college could be better spent, to save me from going back and getting another degree if foreign language didn't work out. That, and something like business seems a lot more practical.
I don't know. It feels like I had more to say, but eh. I guess I need to make up my mind before I register for the summer Spanish class that we can't afford.
