haunted picspam.
I just spent the majority of my afternoon doing this, so. I never did post my reaction to Haunted. If I had right after the episode, it would have gone like this: LAKJFLSJFKAHFJAJKAHSFJHKAHFSH AFLAHJFKAJKAAKLA !!!111ELEVENTY11!1! for as long as I felt necessary. The next day, my reaction would be OMG MOST ANTICIPATED YET DISAPPOINTING YET PERFECT YET A LET DOWN <3. Because, this episode was perfect. And it was disappointing. And I've been looking forward to it since the end of July when the most preliminary spoilers came out. Though I don't think it would be possible for it to be completely perfect. The more I watch it, the better it gets and the more I understand how Shane and Parminder chose to play their scenes.
Though as long as they get a fucking happy ending, I don't care.
I do not know why these two have lately been the be all and end all for me. I don't know why as a person who normally doesn't do ~otps and ships the hell out of every character just fell so hard and so fast for this and haven't been able to let go. My love for them has not waned, which is saying something because I am a pretty fickle shipper. I fell in love with them over the course of a marathon of three episodes towards the end of s12, which originally aired in 2006, so three years. Ray was written 'out' so to speak at the end of 2007 / s13, (THEY CUT OFF HIS FUCKING LEGS, OKAY?) and waited through all of s14 til now, s15. This is the last season finally and they've known that from the get-go. There is no reason why I should not get my happy ending. If anybody deserves a happy ending, it is these two.
I have spent so much on these two that even people I talk to on a regular basis ship them. steadyhearts, thoushaltkissme and gypsytpotter were all subjected to clips and me squeeing or ranting about them and they all ship it by proxy now!
So I vote YOU, dear flistie, look at my picspam of my otp. <3 Here, I shall summarize four seasons into a couple sentences paragraphs for you!
Okay I tried to summarize it twice and wrote a novel. So I'm trying to work on my ~editing skills. Believe it or not, this is as about edited as I can go. (I edited out the lulz as well.)
So basically Ray and Neela became roommates begrudgingly, Neela fell in love with Michael who went off to war. Came back from war, married Neela, and then declared he had to go back to war. Ray falls in love with Neela, and Neela realizes she is starting to fall for him. So she panics and moves out, breaking Rays heart. Michael dies via a bomb overseas. Ray is told to back off and give her space, so he does and she ends up sleeping with another doctor, (Tony) Gates. Ray continues to be broken hearted blah blah and they are no longer bff. Enough time passes that they decide that maybe they should try being friends again. They finally kiss. Neela says she wants to end it with Gates. She goes to end it and Ray sees them having the conversation, misconstrues what is going on and starts drinking. (This is at a wedding, btw.) He then punches Gates out. So he gets thrown out of the wedding, goes to another bar and starts drinking. Neela calls to apologize just as he is exiting the bar. He drops the phone in the middle of the street and BAM GETS HIT BY A BUS.
Neela doesn't hear from Ray, no one does, she goes to their old apartment, and then finally figures out somehow he's at a different hospital. So she goes and sees the door to his room start opening and sees his cut up face, and then the door continues to open AND BAM RAY HAS NO LEGS.
Ray goes back home to Baton Rouge. This time, it's Neela with the broken heart. She spends almost a year basically just concentrating on her work until this Australian transplant named (Simon) Brenner shows up. They sleep together once, Neela tells him its a mistake, and Brenner is cocky enough that he assures her it will happen again.
Then Ray shows up for a surprise visit! Thus, Haunted.
And towards the end of the episode the quality started to suck so it was hard to make prettiful.
Morris you can't keep paging me every five minutes. What is it?
Very very sick patient in curtain three.
Well he doesn't look that sick he's walking around. What's his complaint?
Uh -- he's turning green.
Hello, I'm Doctor Rasgotra how can I help?
(muffled) mm. Neck hurt.
I see. And uh, anything else?
Need. brain. transplant.
Sir - this is an ER with real patients who are sick and need our help -
(pulls off mask)

And miss the surprised looks on your faces? Not a chance.
You in town long? Yeah we should all go out. (Nurse)
That sounds great but I'm only in town for one night for the annual rehab medicine assembly.
So you're working at an ER down south? (Nurse)
I left emergency medicine, actually. I'm doing my residency in PM&R. Physical medicine and rehabilitation.
And you like it? (Morris)
Yeah. I do. I get to work with tramatic brain and spinal cord injuries. Stroke patients, amputees. And it keeps me on my toes. Well make that carbon fiber toes. (lifts up pants.)
So that Brenner guy?
Mmhmm?
Kinda seems like a dick.
So they start running and he's like this is good but I'm going to actually start running now, mk? And speeds past her.
Then there is a couch scene! One of the most famous Ray/Neela scenes took place on a couch, so I'm pretending that the writers did that on purpose.
Ray admits to Neela that he tried to kill himself by overdosing on vicodin. She wishes she could have been there for him. He says that no, it was something he had to go through by himself and now he feels pretty strong.
They start dancing.
Ray leans down to kiss her and their lips barely touch before they are interrupted by knocking. Neela says it's halloween, it's probably trick or treaters and if we ignore them they'll go away. She says she wishes she could have been there for him, that she feels guilty and he says that she has to forgive herself, he has. They barely kiss again when they are again interrupted by knocking. Neela apologizes and goes to the door.
It's Brenner. Neela is like wtf are you doing, he's like I thought we could celebrate? She's like I have company, gtfo.
She goes back inside and sees Ray gathering his stuff. He tells her he had a great day and a fun night but he does have that conference tomorrow and needs to go. Neela is like you could stay here instead of driving to the hotel.
Ray says no, he should be going. He's in a good place and she's in a good place. So he kisses her again, says see you soon and leaves. This again mirrors my favourite Ray/Neela scene.
(Not going to lie when I read the spoilers I was hoping they'd like make out, but you know.)
Neela watches him leave and Parminder kills it with a tear.
