That's such a cute smilie I can't even deal with it.yetsleepingDecember 10 2010, 21:26:55 UTC
I just keep having conversations about--
[...hm.]
Helen always says - and a man I just met said it, too - that someone's life isn't worth less just because they aren't human. But then again, if that's true then why do they argue so hard that they are one or that I am one?
I don't really mind it, you know. I've always known what I am... and I'm less human than I was when I came here.
They fight so hard to convince you because you speak negatively of the aspect of yourself that is not human. So, it is less your humanity that they fight for, and more your worth as an individual.
It's just that I always thought of humanity as better than other things. And.... my human part as the best parts of me.
Although I guess I've gone from being half human to maybe a quarter human, and I don't really feel much different. I mean, personality... um. I mean! I feel different... physically. But not mentally?
Mostly, I just want to be... as strong a warrior as I can be. And... I want to be a defender! And I want to make everyone I've ever looked up to proud of what I can become.
[Behold, a pause. For she is considering whether this is a deeply stupid question.]
[Well, may as well ask.]
Would you consider me a person?
Reply
[ Of course you're a person, but... ]
Elaborate, Priscilla. What is your definition of person.

I suppose you are, in part, yes. It's irrefutable. Why do you ask, Priscilla?

Although.... it's not really that i think there's anything wrong with that part of me. It just...
[Then again, considering who she's talking to...]
There probably isn't any way to describe it without sounding insulting, come to think of it.

And because you're understand both sides of me.

You do realize it is less that I understand both sides, and more that I accept them, don't you?
Humanity itself is...
[ Well, it isn't something that he cherishes, not in the way that she does, or her friends do. ]
...Never mind.
It makes no difference in the end. You are whatever it is you choose to be. Whether that is human, or half, or a quarter... it is for you to decide.

I'm sorry. Should I have gone to someone else?

You know what you want better than anyone else, even better than I do. Whatever it is you aspire to be, Priscilla... that is your answer.

That means you, too. I hope you know that.
