[The communication feed starts with a nice shot of... absolutely nothing. It turns out that whoever was holding it was obscuring the camera, before a finger taps the screen and exposes the upper half of his body as seen from below to the camera. It's clear by this point that whoever's working this communicator has absolutely no idea how it works

Welcome to Demeleier. My name is Valeria and I am a member of Demeleier's welcoming committee.
The purpose of this message is to greet you and to provide you with the necessary information to make your stay as easy as possible. You will find a helpful guide containing information regarding the circumstances of your displacement and the environment in which you've found yourself HERE. Although it is in the process of being updated, it is a highly recommended read that will enable you to better acquaint yourself with your surroundings and the general workings of the village.
Additionally, the Watch, about which you can learn more HERE, holds a meeting at Town Hall on the twenty-seventh of each month at one o'clock in the afternoon. Many topics are addressed at these meetings, which revolve around Demeleier's current affairs and concerns in all areas from safety to development to stores and trading to ( ... )

The idea of the faeries seemed a little farfetched, but that was mainly because he hadn't actually met a faerie. While he took a moment to wonder why he couldn't just use Kyotouryuu, he felt he should at least keep reading it. If the situation was that bad, then maybe it was good that Togame wasn't here, though in his case, it felt odd knowing that he was separated from her like that.
He thought about the Watch, and how that would give him something to do and how he could help out, but for now, he really just wanted to get situated.]
Thank you. [She gave her name too, plus she's a part of the welcoming committee...]
I'm the seventh head of Kyotouryuu, Shichika Yasuri.

You're welcome, Mr. Yasuri. I'm unfamiliar with the Kyoutouryuu as it's likely we're from separate worlds. Would you mind explaining for me? [ A beat. ] And if you feel I can be of further assistance to you at a later date, please don't hesitate to contact me.

[He's a bit surprised. He's never really had to explain Kyotouryuu to anyone, considering most people he ran into in Japan already knew what it was. That must be how distant these worlds are.]
It's a sword style that I've inherited from my family's bloodline. Ah, actually, I guess it's more of me being a part of a line of swords in my family.

[ Valeria's got more than a hunch that's what he means seeing how he sounded so unfamiliar with it in his initial broadcast, but better to be absolutely sure than to rush into a comprehensive explanation about the wrong topic. She wouldn't want to make a bad impression, after all. ]
Part of a line of swords... it sounds like a martial art. [ And impressive regardless, if her tone is any indication. ] You must be very talented to be its head.

[A story for another day, he thinks. Maybe he'll get it on his own.]
It is. I'm currently the only one that practices it, so that would automatically make me the head.

A rare talent then and presumably proficient. I don't doubt you'll find your skill will come in handy during your stay here. Our hosts are rarely benign and often less than benevolent than that.

Are they that likely to attack?

They do regularly enough. If it weren't for the Watch, the village would be under constant attack. It is best for residents to be on their guard and prepared for anything.

Would you happen to know if there is a woman named Togame here? She has short white hair, and stands about... to here. [As he places a hand against his torso.]
