So for those of you that hadn't heard elsewhere, I have good news and bad news about my life currently.
The good news is that my father-in-law, an abusive narcissist who put himself before the stability and safety of the household and openly attacked and demeaned my wife on a regular basis, has been placed in a long-term care facility and we are working to completely excise his presence from the apartment lease. We are escaping an abusive situation and already in the past half a month there has been remarkable levels of healing going on.
The bad news is that the reason we were in that abusive situation to begin with was due to needing the financial support. Our contingencies for making ends meet this month have fallen through (though they'll be set up and steady by August for sure, I am assured) and we're in that awkward transition period where we no longer receive the income from my wife being her father's caretaker or his former share of the bills, but our records also have yet to be updated for me and my wife's disability or our food stamps.
To put it in short, we are not going to have enough money to keep a roof over our head at the end of the month. After crunching numbers and doing budgets, we'll be short about $900, roughly. Some of that can be negotiated with utility companies, but most of it, being directly for the rent, cannot.
As of such, I've set up a
paypal.me page and am actively asking for financial assistance from friends and family. We can keep things afloat after this, we just need help on this one month. Any little bit you guys can contribute will be a huge boon, and if you can't, then hey, spreading the word helps, too.
I always feel weird publicly asking for help like this, like it makes me a worse person. I don't have much to contribute in return for any assistance granted, what with not being good at art or confident in my writing, but if you have anything you'd want out of me in return, you can always ask.
STATUS UPDATE 6/21/18: Thank all of you have been willing to help, I am currently sitting at $410 of our projected $900 needs. I do still need more but right now the worst of the crisis is resolved.
STATUS UPDATE 6/27/18: We are currently up to $645, but due to unforseen expenses the projection has become $950. Thankfully, there is someone who has offered to bridge the rest of the gap, so assistance at this point is more to make things easier for them than for me. Any help is still deeply appreciated.
