...Obviously something is going on.

But it's unclear what the curse is thus far...?

...That's troubling. Usually the harmless ones are simple to figure out.

Hn. Residents of the Opera Abandoned, be on your guard. You can never be too careful in this damn city.

[ ooc: Doer. Doesn't know it yet or understand the curse. Have at him. XD Just beware that ( Read more... )

I don't know if anyone really knows what sort of curse it is today, but even so, it's been a perfectly lovely one, hasn't it?

[ He wants to say that no it's not, dammit! It's annoying as hell! ...But he's been ordered to be nice. Not that he can really understand that yet. ]

N-No, I think it's quite--inconvenient, in my honest and humble opinion.

[ ...What. Is coming out of his mouth. ]

Do you? Oh, that's really too bad! I'm so very sorry to hear that you haven't been having a better day.

Thank you for your concern, but curse days are rarely anything to be pleased about.

[ And talking like this is almost painful for him. ]

...What's made your day so 'lovely', if I may ask?

Would you believe I really don't know? All things considered, it's been just like any other day, except that there's a curse today and most others there isn't. But even so, sometimes it's the simple things in life that we treasure most, don't you think?

No reason? None at all?

[ Okay. That's... strange. ]

...I don't really consider curses among those 'simple things' to treasure. Almost any day without them is significantly better.

Well, not that I can think of, no. But really, you ought to try to have fun with the curses when they come--or at least with the harmless ones! There's no sense in being miserable over them, when that's just what the deities seem to want out of it, anyway.

...I wouldn't say... this is harmless, exactly.

[ Anything that takes away free will is far from harmless, as far as he's concerned. ]

Well, harmless enough, anyway. We've certainly had worse!

[Pause. Something about the way he's been talking sounds...off, even to the perpetually-upbeat sensibilities she's been cursed into today.]

Are you all right, though?

Physically, I'm perfectly fine.

[ He takes a small breath. He's not... entirely sure what's going on with this curse, but Ahiru is managing to order him around with no trouble. ]

...But as long as I'm told to do something, at least by one person in particular, I can't stop myself from heeding their wishes.

Oh! Then you think it's the sort of curse that--oh, but that's horrible! Goodness, no wonder you don't like it!

...Do you suppose if would help at all if you were ordered to not take orders anymore?

...I'm not sure. Anything that we've spoken of in this conversation hasn't affected me, even if it could be taken like an indirect order.

[ He can't sound as angry and frustrated as he wants to, but he can sound a bit put-out. Which he does. ]

I don't know what the City's 'rules' are for this curse.

No, I should think not. But I suppose the only way to find out would be to try, wouldn't it? I could try to give you a direct order instead, for example, if you thought it might help to figure things out without being too bothersome.

[ Fakir considers that, briefly. ]

...Hn.

All right, then. That sounds plenty reasonable enough. By all means, give it a try.

[ ...Well. That's not the way he wanted to say it, but at this point, he's not surprised. ]

[And that's as good as an order for Rosella to do exactly that.]

Well, something simple would be best to start with, I think. Tell me your name.

[ He tenses, as though expecting to feel that tingling urge that forces him to comply.

...But it doesn't come. ]

...Odd. It's not the same.
