...Even if I don't like ninety-nine percent of the people in this damn city, some of you are tolerable, at least. Moreso than I give you credit for.
It's merely easier to ignore or insult and be on my way than it is to actually deal with people. I'm very poor at anything remotely social and I prefer not to make a fool of myself by trying to be something I'm not. And I would rather have my intentions be misunderstood than to not be taken seriously. First and foremost, I want to protect and be worthy of protecting those I care about. It doesn't matter how many people call me a jerk or over-bearing or anything else as long as I know my efforts will keep them safe.
Too many people here are far too trusting and it's disconcerting. One mistake and you may find that you regret putting trust in someone that didn't deserve it. I know that I personally regret it more than anything.
