What's so shady about that? It sounds like a good joke, at least.

Because it didn't appear to be a joke at all. They were very nervous about it. Which means there's some hidden motive.

She came here dressed as a boy, didn't she? Sometimes, when people have secrets... keeping 'em becomes sort of a habit, so they keep doing it, even if they don't have to, strictly speaking. And some people do have enemies from their own worlds here.

Yes, she did. And that may be so, but as far as she's said, there's no one from her world here.

Probably keeping it out of habit then- and also, she might not have realized that there en't any connections or spies back to her own world here, so it's all right for her to dress as a girl.

I suppose, but if someone or a group from her world were to arrive here, that brings her problems straight to the Opera House. And the last thing I want is to put the others staying her in more danger.

No one from her world's here yet though. And you can always kick her out later if they do- she seems like the sort who wouldn't complain about that.
