So first of all, I hope you all are having a great holiday.
Secondly, I think I figured out why I have no real skills. (Note, this is NOT emo!)
I got my Dad a copy of an updated "Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. I was checking out his picture in the back. Stephen Hawking is a genius, as smart as we can get, no question. But he can't move on his own. It's like, if you excel at one thing, say for example mathematics, then all your other skills get ignored, or perphas even supressed. This can go the other way as well; we percieve many athletes as amazing people, but they rarely have the capacity to make scientific breakthroughs. Stephen Hawking may be an extreme example, but why is one of the smartest men in our history confined to an electric wheelchair? One of the mysteries of the human race, I suppose.
But how does this all relate back to me, you're probably wondering. Well, I have a wide variety of interests. (Interest was a carefully chosen word, I wouldn't consider all of my interests "skills.") I enjoy physical activities, including tennis, frisbee, and lifting. I also have artistic interests, including photography, writing, and music. Finally, I have an interest in nature, and I tend to both pysically enjoy it and study it scientifically. However, I haven't, in any of these areas, passed the line between "average" and "above average." I had an epiphiny today, while looking at Stephen Hawking's photograph, and I decided to write about it. Sorry to anyone who was annoyed by this blabber.
Conclusion: I'm not good at anything because I don't focus on any one interest. I don't really want to give up any of them, so maybe I'll have to get used to that. Ah well.
DaVinci was a better man than I.
Again, Merry Christmas to all.
