long winded response...chimoMarch 7 2010, 06:48:40 UTC
I tried this before to see what the dialogue was like. In fact I broke up with him just outside the Landsmeet Chamber to really make it awkward. My Cousland was at 100% friendly with Alistair, had max persuasion, and killed Loghain herself. The only differences I noticed was after you announce that you are going to be queen, Alistair goes "I...yes. Right. She will" before launching into what his dreams normally entail bit and giving his speech.
At Eamon's place in Denerim it's pretty much the same dialogue as if you are in a romance, up until he asks if the engagement is what you really want. Your options are 1) Why, do you object to the idea?, 2) Don't get any ideas. This is purely and arrangement, and 3) Yes, it's what I want. I want to be queen.
I think with option two you get "Ah, I guess that makes sense" (and I am pretty sure some disapproval). With option one you get "Not really... I just thought... we are friends, that's all. It seems a bit strange". Then he goes into the heir bit and the taint complications. The next set of options is pretty similar to the normal QUEEN!Cousland options, except with one awesome addition. 1) Having your heir maybe. 2) Whoa! Lets not get ahead of ourselves. 3) I think that thought deserves an awkward pause. <------LOVE THIS 4) It's also not necessary.
I think option two gives you negative approval and Alistair says something about his foot in his mouth, or something similar (perhaps that was also option four). Option three gets the response "Yes, well... yes. Just... throwing that out there." with no negative approval that I can remember.
Regarding the ritual, Morrigan refers to Alistair being in love with you in her speech (along the lines of him losing the woman he loves). When trying to convince Alistair it is the same as when you are friends but I am not entirely sure. I romanced him previously so I also had the option to say "I love you. You know that, right?" along with "You and I are friends, right?". OBVIOUSLY I picked the I love you bit and got "I... I had wondered if it was still so, after... Why are you telling me this? Why are you being so ominous?" in response. Besides that though, I am pretty sure it's the buddy conversation you have with Alistair.
I never bothered to play it to end game, though I am curious what the dialogue options would be at the coronation.
