Oh, I love this. Everything rings so true: the early glimpse at his childhood, his relationship with Elthina, the moment with the servant in Starkhaven. Lovely piece!
I mean. Uhm. I LOVE IT. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I really was not expecting such AWESOMENESS because I basically got all my DAO fanservice last year and I was really vague this year but YESSSSS THIS IS AMAZING AND DELICIOUS AND SAD BUT SO SO GOOOOOOD! Thank you thank you thank you~ You are AWESOME. Seriously. I am a lucky lucky lady <3
I'm so glad you like it!!! :D The vagueness made me nervous at first (mostly because I've never written Sebastian before), but it worked out in the end. It actually forced me to explore his character and find out what made him tick. So, I thank YOU for that! :)
His discussion with Hawke about his grandfather and the Starkhaven bow is where the plot bunny devoured my brain. I actually wanted to keep going with this a bit, chronicling Seb's adventures as he unearths the initial ties to the Flint Mercenary Company. I could still do that, if you're interested. It's amazing at how things can be so sluggish to start, and then you're suddenly like, "WRITE ALL THE THINGS! Don't stop--no!--don't stop! Keep goooooooing!" o.o
I know right? Once the idea that gets you going is there, you're all BUT THERE AREN'T ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY FOR ME TO WRITE ALL THIS! And it's an interesting angle, and not one I've seen explored yet - all we really know about this guy is what we see ingame, as his codices are all about the gaps between Acts, and a lot of the fic out there is post-game Seb where he's either LORD OF ALL HE SURVEYS or BORN TO RUN WITH HAWKE or getting slapped in the face for being pious (I can see why people don't like it, but no need to harsh on his mellow, lol), there's no exploration of the man he was before, or how he came to the conclusions he did. Uhm. Yes. So, in short, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME and I would read that like whoa. <3
