Hi. I have a new Dragon Age II fanfic (okay, it's not that new, but I've recently been updating and revising it after a long series of fanfic events) involving my male Hawke, Hector, who is a mage that learned how to be a swordsman instead, and heavily identifies as a warrior. This is mostly because I felt the mage Hawke's life was unrealistic in game, and that the player should have picked "traditional spellcasting mage," "rogue with two mage spells," or "warrior with two mage spells" and chosen in character creation which class your mage identified themself with so that it was taken into gameplay. It also seemed to go against the "mage in hiding" part of the Hawke backstory, so I wanted to write something different with the Hawkes than most fans were doing. Largely, the fic follows the plot of the game, with some AU bits taken in because of Hector's character development and personality.
Since I like the Anders/Male!Hawke/Fenris possible love triangle that you can get in game, that's going to be a big part of the romance-portion of the fanfic; the pairings are going to be Carver/Merrill, Isabella/OFC, Donnic/Aveline, Branka/Hespith, Faren Brosca/Leske (I love those two dwarf slash pairings, and their stories are actually going to coencide with another fic, "Dust Breeds Liars," that I am writing about them), Varric/Bianca (sort of, Bianca is a crossbow, but it is relatively canon), Anders/M!Hawke, Fenris/M!Hawke, implied Malcolm/Leandra, implied Leandra/Meredith, implied Carver/Peaches, Alistair/Anora, Alistair/M!Cousland, and M!Cousland/Delilah Howe.
What I'm looking for is advice on writing the story or what you like about it. I've got eleven chapters up already, so if you good people could please look at/review/give advice on fanfiction.net, it would be really appreciated. I'd like to know what was good and bad about it before posting another chapter and going severely wrong with characterization--I'm worried that I've done something severely wrong with the story, as a reviewer of the prior version said some extremely offensive and triggering phrases to me.
