So I had another of those epiphanies while walking under a cold drizzle with a co-worker for some Starbucks. (It's a Friday---nothing like a caffeine bolus and blasts of freezing wind to rescue productivity from TGIF mode.) Actually, it's more of a curious oversimplification, a not-really-that funny quip that can be likened to a Horatio Caine one-liner in awesome fail.

I said, "Okay, I left bedside nursing because I thought nursing was making me pissed and disgruntled all the time. So why am I still pissed and disgruntled?

". . . because it's not nursing, it's people!

"I  hate people. :D"

In retrospect (though not really in a clearer state of mind---I have a horrible headache), I think that was just the trauma speaking. On my way to a meeting, I dropped my pen and I wasn't able to entertain myself. See, that's my learned coping mechanism: while in meetings, I doodle and write out my thoughts on my notepad, so I don't feel like banging my head on the nearest wall or shooting myself. The topic/purpose of the meeting was one close to my heart, too. It just sets my teeth on the edge.

I miss being a mindless pawn. Wait, I'm still a mindless pawn. However, when I was a mindless pawn bedside nurse, I was an oblivious mindless pawn who didn't know that hospital administration----scratch that, probably everything corporate and official----is a cesspool of bovine, world-dreary dross of denatured brains.

I say it again: the civilized world sucks. x__x

In more positive note, the evening was a little better, particularly because my headache let up for a bit. We went out for dinner and a movie. I would have rather sprawled on the couch and do nothing, so they had to drag me, shuffling and grumbling all the way.  So we ended up getting tickets for Alice in Wonderland, and then walked around for food, even though we didn't have much time.

We walked into a restobar and my mom asked, "It's 7:10; our movie is at 8:00, do you think we'll make it?"

You want a quick bite before your movie, the man clarified, and said yes and introduced us to our quick servers. We were seated, we ordered, we had our meal, and got out at 7:32. :D That was pretty neat.

Of course, what we basically got was pulutan. LOL I liked my tuna tartare. It was the capers bit that caught my attention and it did not disappoint. It went well with the lime juice in the fish.

Alice in Wonderland was quite good. It was as bemusing and colorful and well, mad, as one would expect from an Alice in Wonderland. The actors did not disappoint, of course. I think it would have been awesome in 3-D, but we didn't want to wait for the next 3-D showing.

I think I'm done whining for now.
