So I'm tasting the waters of being a defunct ninja nurse, being a lowly IT person (AKA support) in a stressed out hospital environment. (Which is good actually, it's been awesome not having enough time to muse on the future of THE ship. NVM) It feels weird to see a patient being rolled in and having to consciously stop from walking briskly to the bedside coz, hey, not your job anymore, you'd overstep your bounds, idiot.
Anyway, I was puzzling over the repeated presence of the acronym WOWs in the meetings, project documentations, etc. (I was pretty sure it didn't stand for World of Warcraft.) Then I realized, it was replacing C.O.W.S. which stood for "computer on wheels." It's been a serviceable name as far as I'm concerned--- COWs graze in the hallways, they charge at times and have to be left alone then, they have to be herded from one patient room to another, and they're hard to lasso when there's too many cowboys after them (aka not enough COWs on the floor for the nurses, techs, and registrars to share amicably.)
Apparently, a customer in the Maternity ward took offense to the term "COW," thinking the nurse was referring to a patient when she said it.
Bwehehehe...
