Pointless Realization at 3 am

Low pick up. I am a low pick-up person. Woe!

After first reading through Nodame Cantabile, I wondered when Chiaki began looking at Nodame as his girlfriend (and when Nodame started calling herself his wife.) I finally connected the dots just a few moments ago. It was after Chiaki's debut. -__- ; ; ;

I was re-reading the parts around the er, the official first kiss. After the debut performance, and the rest of Chiaki's family comes back sage, they see a happily fainted Nodame. I didn't give it much thought then, but later on assumed that Chiaki merely kissed her again, as she had requested. But then, I realized that was when Chiaki asked her to be his girlfriend. (Hello, Idi? Wasn't that point illustrated by that "meanwhile, Chiaki goes deeper into the weirdo forest." That line makes sense now!)

It makes sense. While he was in Prague, shopping with Son Rui, when he was buying the necklace, he had denied having a girlfriend. After the debut, he didn't violently react to Nodame suggesting going out on a date. They were walking hand in hand. He didn't deny being her girlfriend after Yun Long accused him of being the boyfriend Nodame's always talking about. Not to mention, parang live in na talaga sila.
And there's Stressman telling him to be clear about "things like this" prior to the debut performance, and confronting him about his feelings for Nodame. After that was a slew of Chiaki scenes being expressing doubt and what not ("I clearly told her I was leaving today. That girl really isn't affectionate") while he was in Holland. About being upset that he always had to make the call; she never calls. About whether someone like that counts as a lover, much less someone waiting for him for Christmas. Which of course culminates with the Parisian street duel at Christmas Eve, and him telling her that it's over, he wants to end it while it's still early for both their sakes. I didn't realize till now that that was actually an almost break-up! And of course, the starting over bit and the Christmas gift and all that. XD

=__=;;;

I suck.

P.S. and it partially invalidates that drabble "Modern Inconvenience." The necklace wasn't "a precursor the a claim." Chiaki had already made that before he left for Holland.

=__= It's manga for crying out loud. Took me that long to realize this? T__T

nodame, bad habits, i'm okay, fangirling
