Seems like all I will have time for now is short brief updates... Oh well, I'm sure you all will appreciate them even if I leave out some stuff...
Last wednesday night was a milestone for us, it was a highly emotional time as we talked more about God. She so badly wanted to understand it all and I wanted her to understand that things got a little confusing for a bit there. She didnt understand what I was trying to say and I got fustrated with myself for not being able to explain, and having a difficult time trying to find the words. We both started crying and then I realized that God should be involved as well, which is what I wanted. So I said we needed to pray, and I prayed for both of us. Things got a lot better after that prayer. A lot better...
I gave her my Bible which has a reading plan included. She promised to start reading it and I also ask her to take notes so we can go over any questions she may have. The first reading plan is a two week plan (1 chapter a day) of an overview of Jesus' life. Thursday after work I went over to her place again because she said she has some questions... turns out she read 10 chapters, 6 from the reading plan (plus an extra chapter), and three from Proverbs. I was just amazed by how much she read. So we spent about an hour doing a review of what she read and I was answering her questions. She had a major concern with one chapter where Jesus spoke about marriage, divorce and adultry. So we talked a bit about that and I was just thankful that I had read another chapter about divorce and remarriage that applied to her situation. I cant remember where it is now but it basically states that if a woman is abandoned by her unbelieving husband she is free to remarry.
Yesterday (saturday) we attended a church service at my church. The message series is called 24, named after the tv series 24, only in this particular case it is 24 episodes in the life of Jesus. So it is a wonderful opportunity for her to hear more about Jesus and give us a chance to talk about what we heard. Also a friend of mine from church came and joined us so it was great for the two of them to meet and chat a bit.
Then things got a bit emotional again. She wanted to tell me something, which she did, but the seriousness of it was kinda hard to focus on due to Johnny being with us. We did talk in bits and pieces but it was very difficult. To top things off, as we left the church parking lot my car lost power. It restarted after a few minutes, but things were vary hairy for a while. Stopped by my place so that I could talk with my roommate who knows alot about cars. The basic thing he can think of is that my car is having trouble cooling down. One of the fans quit working, but the other is still going, plus I was low on coolant fluid and should refill it a bit more. The car probably shut off since it is a safty feature to keep the car from overheating too much. Still a scary moment.
I am hoping thats all it is since we have alreay made plans on a little 'vacation' Monday and Tuesday. No kids, no cats, no phone calls, just the two of us for two whole days. All she knows is that we are heading north. On Monday, we will be driving a senic route on the way up to Flagstaff, hopefully the leaves will be changing colors and it will be really pretty. Then once at Flagstaff we will head west to Williams where I made a reservation at a hotel (with two beds). Then the highlight of our trip... Tuesday morning we will go over to the train depot in town for a wild west type show before boarding the train to the Grand Canyon! Yes an hour long train ride through the national forest to the Grand Canyon. Then we will spend about four hours or so at the Grand Canyon and return by train to Williams and then drive back home. I'm excited, she is excited even though she doesnt know where we are going yet! And I'm excited that she will be even more excited once she discovers it!
I even been trying to get her to guess where we are going so I can tell her "we are not driving to the Grand Canyon" and then on Tuesday tell her "remember what I said about driving to the Grand Canyon? Its because we are taking a train!" Sigh... havent been able to say that yet. Oh well... I am going to take my camera and so there may be pictures later.
