So, it occurred to me last night that I went almost a month without posting on here. Whoops. Sorry! Totally didn't mean to. I still have feeling about television and other things. I just don't have time.
Thoughts on Television, somewhat spoilery, but all at least a week old:
On SPN: I've liked the last few episodes (with the exception of 7x08, which I've decided not to watch on your collective advice and maybe read a book instead). Not necessarily the deepest things, but they've been good filler episodes. Heart-cupcakes, Pulped Fiction references, and mentalist gags are also great ways to get into my heart. I'm halfway to expecting there to be a knitting and roller derby episode next. Super glad that Sheriff Mills has survived so long, sad that they can't keep a PoC living for more than an episode.
On Merlin: I'm happy that they've let everyone grow, just a little bit. I'm still upset that Merlin lost his one confidante besides Gaius so early on, before there could be too much confidante-ing. I absolutely love it when they give Gwen something to do.
I'm still thinking that every episode is the episode where Arthur will find out that Merlin has magic. Shut up. I'm awesome. It has to happen sometime, right?
On Downton Abbey: I've... lost interest. I don't know what's different this season, but I just stopped caring about anybody. Even Mary's face seemed kind of one-note after a while. And that's Mary's face! You'd think I'd be happier about a plotline where someone getting a boner is a huge deal, yet no.
On Ringer: So, I just starting watching the series so I could figure out what's going on when Misha Collins finally shows up, in episode 14. I'm on episode 3. I don't know if I'm going to make it, guys. Coping mechanisms so far: The Chrysler Building=Castiel. Siobahn's lover stole season four Castiel's hair, so it's pretty easy to pretend he has a Mishaface. Every mirror=Castiel. I suspect that Buffy's hair in the second episode might have been a sentient lifeform, but I don't think it's Castiel. Also, pretending the show is actually about the sensible community college professor.
Now: Links and things.
gladdecease wrote something for me for Novakfest. Y'all should read it, it's adorable. Also, found
here. Jimmy Big Bang is looking for prompts. As is
DC-dystopia (which is a darkfic comm, not just for dystopian futures or whatnot). Prompt it up over
here I signed up for
GISHWHES. I have no shame. If you have not signed up yet, would like to, and would like to try to be on the same team, let me know (this would have been one of those things that would have been better like, a week and a half ago).
I also signed up for
Erasureathon. I'm a little nervous (all of my fanfic is about Novaks, and I hope I don't make someone wince if they get me), but I think it'll be fun to try.
Recipes for food from the hunger games, along with commentary. I feel a little guilty looking over these-a lot of these are foods that people from the Districts wouldn't have been able to eat, at least not on a regular basis. And yet it's still an interesting idea. They have some Game of Thrones recipes in the same blog, for any of those who would be interested in that instead.
In non-fictional food blogging news:
55 great food blogs from all over the world. All in English (or have English translations available). I've only paged through a few of these, but they're amazing.
Eating Asia has great pictures to go along with it, especially.
