Guys, I really want to talk about all the TV I've watched recently and share links and other things, but I've been having issues with the place I put my pants. My old set of drawers have been broken for a while, and I tried to replace it last weekend, but instead got stuck in some sort of IKEA hell. There were issues finding the parts I wanted, issues fitting it in the car, issues making sense of the 36-part directions involving thirty different pieces of wood, one of the drawers irreparably broke when I put them together, the outer part of the wardrobe fell on me a few times, the hanging bar is a centimeter shorter than it should be, and I finally got everything put together last night, only to discover that the drawers are flush against their frame and have no handles.
Also, the cinnamon roll I got at the end was stale. :(
But all that time with a hex key meant a lot of time in front of the television, so I have watched things! And liked them! In between cursing at other things.
So, making this quick:
Supernatural 7x02
1. Cas is not dead. Well, not permanently. We are all in agreement of this, yes?
2. That being said, I was really hoping for more manic Misha, or manic leviathans. But Misha did manic so well!
3. SHERIFF MILLS <3 And she's not even dead yet! I'm so proud of her.
4. Leviathans learning about humanity from Dr. Sexy is my favorite thing ever. The Leviagirl who was questioning the surgeon is my new role model.
5. I'm really enjoying Sam being insane, and think it's being handled well-especially the warehouse scene, and the scene where Bobby is trying to assure Sam and Lucifer just m
Doctor Who:
Nothing too specific-I did most of my hammering during the season finale, so I might have missed some part of it, but I really like how well this season finale tied together so many different parts of the season. Not just in terms of returning characters/plots, but also in terms of themes. Also, Rory was still awesome. Not so happy with the really cheesy 'oldest question', though. And also, not really sure how I feel about the 'but people love you, so it's totally okay if you get some of them killed' idea. But I'm not sure what else they could have done?
Merlin 4x01
1. OMG MORGANA REALLY DID SPEND THE OFF-TIME CARTING MORGANA'S (nearly) DEAD BODY AROUND. THEY TOTALLY HAD TEA PARTIES OFF SCREEN. I love this show, even my crack predictions become real.
2. I really like the dynamics this season, especially Arthur taking on a leadership role, and Merlin having someone else to talk to besides Gaius about his magic, and Gawain being there with his face.
3. I know, I know, but I really thought that Merlin would tell Arthur about his magic this episode-right at the end there, when they're both sitting there and it didn't look like there was any other choice. But maybe next episode!
Luther Series One-up to episode 4, because apparently I haven't been able to sit down and watch the last two episodes in nearly a month:
This has been on my ‘to watch’ list for a while now-due to the fact that Idris Elba is in it, and as weird as it seems to me to think of him as Stringer Bell suddenly rising from the dead and taking up an acting career (Idris speaking in his original accent helps), I feel the need to support all the actors ever in The Wire in any way possible. But, well, I never felt the impulse to search out and find it until I found out that it was Stringer Bell interacting with sociopaths, which will always been in my interests.
The set up is kind of off from your usual cop show. Most cop dramas- there’s a weird mystery, some banter, some investigation, maybe a b-plot about one of the investigator’s personal lives-and then suddenly, a breakthrough-mystery solved, some sort of confrontation with the bad guy, then close.
With Luther, he usually figured out who the murderer is about ten to fifteen minutes into the show, because he’s just that good. But since Luther only investigates criminal masterminds, they never leave any evidence lying around for him to find, so he has to wait for them to trip up. He helps make sure that they will trip him up by doing at least one questionably moral thing an episode and taunting them. This might make him seem kind of like Batman. He is helped with both of these things by Alice Morgan, a sociopath who gets off in the first episode, who also helps Luther get in touch with his darker side by messing with his not-quite-ex wife.
I’m really enjoying it-it’s really, really pretty (and not just because of Idris Elba face), and it’s entertaining to watch. I’m not as attached to any of the characters as I thought I’d be-maybe it’s still a bit early yet, but Luther doesn’t really seem all that bold or compelling a character, and I can kind of take or leave Alice. They manage to bring the creepy-usually with inappropriate touching or bodily fluids (I'm thinking of the cases of people licking or sniffing each other). Though with this many criminal masterminds, I'm always stuck wondering how anyone is still living in London. There are an awful lot of deaths, and nobody's neighbor's seem to react to any gunshots or screams.

Finally, a request:
This weekend, I will have to spend about 16 hours in a car. And it's belatedly occurred to me and my boyfriend that
the Current isn't actually available everywhere my car can go, even thought it seems that way. I am going to have to find other music options for this trip. To the record store!
But since I've been listening to the current and pretty much only the current for the past three years, I have no idea what new music I should be actually buying. The last CD I bought was Janelle Monae, I think-and that was a year and a half ago. So, tell me, flist, what should I be listening to?
