Bones was awesome. That was also a perfect example of how to have a lesbian/bisexual character. AKA- the opposite of Grey's Anatomy. It made sense and felt very organic to the character of Angela who had awesome chemistry with that Roxy chick. Callie and Hahn... just No. It makes no sense, Callie isn't gay so it comes across kind of forced and most of all I HATE HAHN!! sorry, I drifted. The point was Bones here. I have to say, the writers are starting to almost anger me with the Booth/Brennan UST. Just stop toying with us already!!! I need them to hook up or for the crazy sexual tension to stop because it as a hard core shipper I can't have the carrot dangling this close. I lose it! (can you tell from this crazy disjointed comment??) Next week's previews looked AMAZING though. I can't believe I once thought this show didn't look interesting.

I hear ya! haha I haven't seen Grey's this year, but plan to watch the past episodes during winter break... I was excited about what Callie and Hahn represented and I am horrified and disgusted by ABC demanding Hahn be fired... I can't believe I haven't ranted about that in an entry lol

I didn't like "Bones" at first either! I got into it during the Writer's Strike by watching season 3 on Hulu... I'm freaking in love with it! And I'm a hardcore shipper as well... I'm just waiting for some amazing sex-ness to happen! haha

IS that why they are firing her? I kind of thought it was because no one liked her character and ratings had gone down, although IMHO that had more to do with the George/Izzie fiasco than anything else. I thought they were pretty on board since they axed Isaiah Washington for making gay slurs towards TR Knight ( ... )

Yeah, ABC... I don't really know what to say about them. It's infuriating. ugh.

omg I'm a total Mulder/Scully purest. I mean I'm a Mulder/Scully shipper, don't get me wrong, but the UST was amazing! I would never say no to the kissing and such, but God... those early years when it was all about them being worried for each other and not having to actually SPEAK about loving each other really... really was awesome. Loved that. Miss that.
Booth/Bones are close to that, but I think it's more obvious. They say/do things that make it very clear that the writers want you to feel that they would be awesome in bed together haha

Yeah. Most of the reason I ignore the last few seasons of X-files is because it got bad. Like really bad. I stopped watching it once Scully was pregnant because even knowing in my heart that Mulder was the father I just couldn't deal with that being my former favorite show. I choose to remember it like it was and pretend the rest never happened.
Yeah the attraction with B/B is different than M/S because it's clear that the writers mean it that way so I can't just ignore it like I did with M/S. They toy with my crazy little emotions.

*scurries off to google what the heck happened with ABC*

I ♥ that icon so much.
I found a mention of it that says that the writers say it's because of a chemistry issue with her and Callie. Which I can see since they have none. It's just weird because it's so sudden. Here's the quote.

"Michael Ausiello reports that Smith, a series regular, has been fired from the show. This is Grey's second actor firing. If you recall Isaiah Washington was fired from the show a few years back due to comments he made about fellow actor T.R. Knight. However, Brooke Smith is being fired for different reasons.

Show creator Shonda Rhimes claims the writers did not find the magic and chemistry needed to have Hahn sustain in the long run. However, according to Ausiello's sources, the network ordered the firing because they had issues with Dr. Hahn and the explicit relationship she has with Dr. Torres."

I can't find anything official, just this gossip blog thing, so who knows really.

Well, I read an interview with Brooke and it really was out of the blue... I think it's ridiculous. I don't know. I haven't seen the episodes so I really can't say, but it's suspect. Because there's been no official word by ABC and no support FOR ABC by Shonda... it makes me think that ABC took issue w/ the relationship. Brooke said it was obvious Shonda didn't want to fire her - and ABC wouldn't let them film any sort of closure (according to Brooke when she did the interview). I don't know... I think it's gross. As a woman who studies LGBT representation in film and television, I'm disgusted.

I love that icon too!!! :)

Yeah, I just read that interview. It does seem weird. I dunno... I still kind of think they are just scrambling to fix the drop in ratings, but maybe that's just me being naive.
I have just heard LOTS of negative things about her character even before the relationship with Callie. *shrugs* It is gross, but I just hate to think that of people.
The show has always done so well with representing LGBT characters in the past, too.

They've done well w/ having their patients be queer (unlike ER *hateful stare*), but I've been dying for a queer leading character, you know? For it being such a diverse cast... it's frustrating. *sigh* I still love what happened w/ Issiah b/c it really told Hollywood "faggot" was not an okay name for co-workers, you know? but still. I want a lesbian character. And God knows they're going to make callie sleep w/ men again instead of giving her another gf. blah.

They are going to do that, but she just isn't a lesbian. It just didn't make sense with her character on the show which was part of the problem they had.
Now Christina... that I could see. I don't think they will do it, but it would make sense character wise. Or maybe Lexie. I think for the best reception they have to bring in an openly gay character. You can't have someone who is established as a straight woman who wants to get married an have a lot of babies (ie Callie) suddenly be gay without any lead up. It feels forced. Like they just wanted a gay character so they pulled a name out of hat.
I loved them getting rid of Burke. Isaiah W. was such an arrogant prick about the whole thing so I was thrilled by that.

I actually really liked the way they explored Callie's sexuality - her trying to deal with her sudden attraction to hahn by oversexing McSteamy... and her conversation with Addie ("are you speaking the vagina monologues?") was amazing (side note: Callie and Addie should sex it up). If I'm reading my stuff right, Callie doesn't identify as lesbian... and even if she did, sexuality is fluid and can change. I think there was enough of a lead up - showing her growing affection for Hahn - for it to not be fake. I would love to have an openly gay character, but one who realizes their sexual identity in the middle of the show is awesome too! Just so long as they don't heterosexualize her. They need to play her as a bisexual woman if they're to keep ANY respect from the queer community. I personally thought the Callie/George relationship was grossly forced - and for me that made her attraction to women make even more sense. I think Callie could be attracted to anyone - like McSteamy - and pull it off. I adore Sara ( ... )

I guess I didn't even see her as bisexual. Just that she found herself strangely drawn to Erica (God know why, LOL) but on the show she doesn't identify herself as gay, no. Then again, I liked Callie/George at the time so maybe that's the diff perspective there. I agree, I could see Addie/Callie. But we talked about that before when I mentioned my initial Erica hate. Of course as I said then I could ship Callie/my left shoe pretty much as long as the shoe was interesting, LOL. I also adore Sara. I love the Callie/Mark relationship. They manage to keep it so light and funny that I can't help but smile any time they are on screen together.

Yeah, I really like the humorous relationships, like Callie and Mark - I kind of like them as BFFs tho haha I enjoy the character of Mark b/c he's so sleazy but funny and his moments of goodness are SOOOO great. *sigh* I really need to get all these past episodes - or get the ABC player to start working for me! haha :)

I have the 1st 4 seasons on DVD and every time I watch I am reminded of why I liked the show so much to begin with. You do need to make the ABC player work. Or get Tivo. That's what I did and it has totally made my life better. I really mean that. Tivo is my secret lover. And it lets me watch the Office and 30 rock so I can worship JKras and Tina Fey (in diff ways, but still very important) and then watch Grey's like nothing ever happened. It's a thing of beauty.

My mother had Tivo - I fucking loved it! I don't even have cable at my apartment lol I watch all my shows except SVU online... but since I can't get the ABC player to work, that messes things up. I need to get it to work before LOST returns in 2009! gah! I'm sure I'll figure something out haha
