NaBloPoMo Day 5
BBs, I'm saddened. Yes, Obama was elected last night and that is very very exciting... but I cannot feel complete elation in the least.
We were successful in protecting Abortion, which is an issue dear to my heart (the issue of Choice). But the gays have lost out... yet again. Arizona and Florida both banned gay marriage last night and Arkansas banned gay adoption/foster parenting. And Proposition 8 in California has passed, which means all those marriages from the last few months (THOUSANDS of marriages) are now void. This is a step back, not a step forward. It feels like we keep hitting walls.

If you voted NO on Prop 8 or voted against gay marriage/adoption in those other state, you should take me off your flist. I am sick and tired of defending the person I love - but I can't stop until people get it. I shouldn't have to fight it on Livejournal, so if you are anti-gay, don't bother. It's one thing to ban gay marriage, it's another to REPEAL gay marriage. That's just gross.
And it doesn't help that Obama's not the most gay-friendly person... he's not Bush, but still. I can't be expecting anything pro-gay from him, but can only hope we don't get anything anti-gay.
On the bright side, my step-mom came to town today and took me to the Cheesecake factory where we had lunch and therapy (a common practice for us). We also went to Barnes and Noble so I was able to get the Twilight Movie Companion. I hadn't planned on buying it, but I did! :) I needed something to make me smile after all the anti-gay shit I've been reading.
I want the new Vanity Fair - those pictures are amazing! And the Teen Vogue interview thing is awesome, too! I now ship Kpattz (kristen/robert), Ashson (Ashley/Jackson), and Nstew (Nikki/Kristen) :) :)
