And I'm starting to get fed up with it. The internal bits seem to have healed up quite nicely, although any sneeze or cough which catches me by surprise still feels like someone jamming hot nails into my stomah. It's the healing incision that's causing the discomfort now. I was bit concerned, because the skin around the 3-inch incision was a mixture of tender and sore with that kind of half-numb prickly sensation you get when you've been sitting on the floor and leaning on your hand for too long.
I rang the hospital and explained how it felt, and they told me that it's because to do the surgery, they had to make the incision, and then pull the skin away from my body around and below it, so now the nerves and stuff are all knitting back together. They told me that it's perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about, and it'll probably feel weird like that for anywhere between a week and a month or so. Hurrah. ;-)
And I'm still housebound.. I walked down the road to the shop the night before last, because I just needed to get some fresh air, but I just can't walk any kind of distance. I'm still not supposed to drive anywhere, so I might get a friend to take me up to the sea front later on this afternoon, so I can get a bit of air again.
