How do you fix an RV that's gone through a tornado?
DUCT TAPE...lots and lots of duct tape!
I now know this from personal experience as that's exactly how we fixed our RV Sunday night after a bunch of tornados and ginormous baseball-sized hail swept through Missouri (where my family and i were) and bombarded the RV.
Apparently being in an RV is the absolute worst place you can be during a tornado which was a wonderful fact to ponder over as my parents tried to find a hotel for us to stay in in between tornados. (that is laden with sarcasm by the way)
First round of tornados we had just arrived at the campground outside of Columbia when the sirens went off so we jumped out of it and into the laundromat where we hung out until that group passed. That's when the RV got all of its damage - the vents and windows on the roof are completely broken through (the floor was covered in glass!) and the whole roof is covered in dents.
We decided to drive back yesterday at 3 pm after Julia's college tour since it was freezing up there and we sorta kinda had a few holes in the RV that didn't help us stay warm. Plus a button in the RV would randomly flash carbon monoxide which didnt seem like any fun either.
My dad drove for 16 hours nonstop and my family took shifts keeping my dad awake while the rest slept. We kept him awake through crazy measures (ie getting him to talk about weird and random stuff, singing parts of Hilary Duff songs (Wake Up seemed like a good song to be singing at 4 in the morn), asking obvious questions, and feeding food/caffeine to him, etc.)
On my last shift from 4 till 6 am he was falling asleep on a pretty regular basis so I pretty much stared at him for two hours straight so I could poke him awake every 5 seconds when he would close his eyes and go to sleep. I remember vaguely talking for about 10-15 minutes about how in Walker County people only walk. Yeah, its definitely been an interesting past couple of days.
(Tornados are scary as fucking hell! I slept with my boots and glasses on, my cell phone in my hand, and my purse slung over my shoulder...my family, being wonderfully adventurous, made fun of me during the second round of tornados. Which is not fair because they were all just as panicky as I was during the first round...well all except for my dad who kept walking out of the laundromat to watch the tornado come!)
Soo...how's ya'lls Spring Breaks going?
