Okay, so we have birds. Mourning Doves, to be specific. And while I could wax poetic about the mating process and nesting process of these birds (I did my research!) I will just point you to Wikipedia, if you are interested.
At any rate, the mama bird decided our porch, specifically, a hand held seed spreader, was the perfect locale for her nesting period. And so she made a nest, laid the eggs and dutifully sat on them for her shift. (The papa came at night.) The eggs hatched, thankfully, not while we were on vacation. The baby birdies were promptly sat on for the better part of this week, and now are being allowed a little more freedom. Today I put some birdseed nearby for whoever was watching the babies.
