As Intel shares continue to fall amid product delays and fears of falling demand in consumer electronic products, new waves of interests are gathering pace for the launch of a 3 watt energy-efficient mobile processor. One large contract manufacturer known for its manufacture of motherboards and graphic peripherals, ASUS, is preparing the launch of a new EEe-PC to be based on the Intel Atom Core on June 3rd, 2008!
The upcoming processor can be deloyed on ultra lightweight internet devices such as mobile phones, future releases of the iPhones, NetBooks (compact laptops) and NetBoxes (thin-clients or lightweight desktops). However, one might not fully enjoy the robustness of its dual-core version until sometime late this year or early next year.

The single-core Atom which will see several competitors utilizing the processor, can be scaled to run from 800Mhz to 1.86Ghz. It is a milestone for a processor of its kind!!!
Although it is too early to see an iPhone with an Atom Processor, one may never know what lies in Apple's sleeves these days as it gears up for a global launch of its next generation 3G HSDPA-enabled iPhone on June 9!
