Lucius and Narcissa shared a look as they watched their son watch his wife from across the large ballroom of the Manor. They were hosting a Yule Ball and though both smiled (or rather, Hermione smiled. Draco simply didn't glower) it was obvious the newlyweds were on the outs.
Feeling the stares and hearing the whispers about her and Draco, Hermione sought refuge out on the balcony. Though the snow was thick on the ground, the area was charmed and she didn't have to worry about the cold.
The door opened and closed behind her, but she didn't bother turning around to see who'd joined her. She already knew.
He came up beside her, watching the grounds with unseeing eyes as they stood in silence. Neither knew what to say.
A small spark of light had them both looking up at the mistletoe forming above their heads. They eyed each other for a moment before Draco gathered his courage and leaned forward, pressing his lips against hers.
Hermione sighed into him, happily forgetting the reason they'd argued in the first place as she deepened their kiss.
Inside the Manor, Lucius accepted a kiss from Narcissa for a charm well placed.
