i know. i drifted away again. mea culpa, flist! i've been a busy little bee lately. nothing incredibly interesting but i'm going to go on at length anyway. the short version for my busy flisters: work is good; money is still tight but getting better; my ankle is doing quite well and i've been walking on it like a normal person for 2.5 days now with only a hint of pain every now and then. that's the important stuff. now for the general rambling thoughts of me:
i've been spending time trying to sort through the massive amounts of media on my computer. i recently DOUBLED the size of my music library during a very geeky evening spent with lindsay and matt before they left for new zealand. there are LOADS of doubles in there so i'm in the process of weeding them all out. it's going to take quite some time and i really want to get it under control as quickly as possible. a lovely side effect of this weeding out is that i'm discovering music that i had downloaded but not gotten to listen to as well as get rid of some things that i have NO desire to keep anymore. regarding the latter, it's mostly been single songs that were top 40 hits about 5 years ago. like 3 Doors Down's Kryptonite. shit like that. hahaha. as far as the former, i have discovered my love for Lily Allen's album "Alright, Still". if i wrote songs, this is what i'd want them to sound like. although i'd probably have a bit more riot grrl in my shit, but that's me. hahaha.
i've also been watching LOADS of tv! i'm working my way through all the Mr Show dvds as well as enjoying all my shows starting to come back from hiatus. 24 is KILLING ME! last night's show was AWESOMEAKJFKJEIOFJEIJFJ#*()URJEIRJDIE:JR:IOES!! seriously. so fucking good. heroes was good too, but i'm left feeling very anxious about what's going to happen next. i'm worried about hiro and the dinosaurs, man! and two of my deepest loves, Rome and The L Word have also returned and are flooring me as usual. The L Word was particularly amazing this weekend. i'm reminded why i love this show. and why i hate it. but there's no in betweens! and that's how i like it!
i've been having a lot of thinking time as well, which has been both good and bad. but that's every winter, so no surprises there. i just have to grin and bear it for now. i've also been lucky in that i've been able to balance out getting all introspective with having some visits and nice long chats with some friends i haven't seen in a long while. john came down on thursday night and we saw Pan's Labyrinth with my mom. i really really REALLY liked it. one of the best movies i've seen in a long time. friday night, i got to babysit ryan & andy for the first time in ages. they completely hooked me on the New Super Mario Bros. for DS. i've borrowed it from one of my co-workers and am going to beat it, goddammit!! it's hard! but i digress. continuing the theme of reunions, i drove out to long island yesterday for a bit of a reunion with carole and marco which was LOVELY, although there was a small casualty: my one-hitter/bat got broken. i was trying to clean it out and it just cracked. so sad. but it's just as well. in fact, i'm about to throw on my work clothes and head out the door to buy a new one before i'm due in at 5. off to new brunswick i go!
but first,
