taking a break

Oct 18, 2006 15:42

i'm on the 2nd of three days off. i spent yesterday doing not much of anything aside from having a facial and getting my hair done. it is now in a deconstructed bob and chocolate brown. there were supposed to be slices of purple in there, but they kind of blend in with the brown because they're really more of a plum. i'm going to see about going back to get the purple to be a little more noticeable. but i like it. i'll post pictures of it after i decide what i'm doing about the purple bits.

i'm spending today and tomorrow giving my room a thorough cleaning. i was going to do it at the beginning of the month, but then i was just too miserable after creamer died to bother with anything. i woke up early naturally this morning, which was a big accomplishment, and have so far spent about 3 or 4 hours total on my room. i've made a LOT of progress. i reorganized the media corner of my room. i have some dvds left to put away, but they're pretty far down on my list of priorities. next up is taking everything off of my desk, dressers and nightstand and giving those surfaces a good dusting. then i'm pulling all the furniture away from the walls so that i can vacuum up the dust behind and around and then vacuuming the rest of the room. after that i just have to put everything back in it's place, but i don't mind if that part waits until tomorrow, especially since i think i'll be packing some things away. i really want to get all the dust out of here tonight though. dust is my enemy and i will defeat him!

money still sucks. that really is the one big thing in my life that i want to change. but i have good news! i had a chat w/our newest manager yesterday about my availability and what i'm looking for in terms of hours at work since he's taking over making the schedules from now on. the upshot of our conversation was that he's going to put me on the schedule at least 30 hours a week because, "you're a hard worker and i like you". YAY ME! honestly, 30 hrs/wk is what i've been looking for. it's not quite full time, but it's close. and if i maintain 30 hrs/wk for a month or two, i'm eligible for FULL HEALTH BENEFITS!! so things are looking up even though i'm miserably broke at the moment.

cleaning is making me feel good. i feel more like myself this week and more in control of my life. there have been a few days of revelation lately and i feel like they're pushing me out of this slump i've been in lately. here's hoping i can keep up my momentum.

now i'm off to have a snack and then back into the fray of cleaning.

growin' up, cleaning machine, responsibility
